Looking for some thoughts

On a couple subjects, actually.

For anyone who moves their product around (mobile detailers, taking your stuff to a friend's, etc), how much do you take with you? Do you just refill your usual sprays and such, or do you take the concentrates with you as well? I'm trying to downsize what I carry with me to do my parent's vehicles, so any input is appreciated.

Secondly, anyone here own a carport? I was looking for some ideas about how to store said product so I don't have to cart it down from the shed all time time. And keeping product like that inside where kiddies can get to it is out. I've got some ideas about buying or building cabinets and such, but am unsure how to keep it all secured. I could lock the cabinet, but someone could end up taking the whole cabinet.

Work is over, so if you have any specific questions that will help you answer, go for it. Thanks.

Regarding the mobile aspect of what to carry, I was able to get most of my products stored in a few rubbermaid like bins that made things easy to tote around.

I would have a bin of microfiber, a bin of pads, then a bin for products. I'd keep 2 buckets and my wash media, foam gun, shampoo(s), etc. inside the buckets. When I'd travel I'd wedge my buffers and vacuum between the bins. I also would have my lighting in there for polishing, an extension cord with 3 outlets on the end, and a hose just in case.

I always found it best to pre-mix your dispenser bottles (which should be clearly labeled) before traveling. If you have a favorite APC, I make it in a few different concentrations in case you need some extra power, or keep a smaller bottle of concentrate that you can add to your pre-mixed bottles.

I never had an issue fitting all of this in the trunk of a mid sized vehicle. The key is trying to be as organized as possible, which will also help your details go quicker.

Regarding the storage of the products, I would advise against leaving them outside. If you have big temperature fluctuations, the highs and lows can separate or damage certain products. Your best bet is to keep them stored between 50 - 70 degrees, out of direct sunlight and in a place with low humidity.

Hope this helps a little.

That does help. Right now, I can fit absolutely everything (including a gal of APC) in one rubbermaid tub. Additional products will necessitate removing that, perhaps putting some in an 8oz squeeze bottle or so.

As for storing the products - I wonder how much difference storing the products in an 10x10 shed in my back yard (on a shelf) would be from storing them in a custom wood cabinet under my carport. I wonder what the temperature variance would be in both places.

Because, unfortunately, that's my two choices. The shed actually stays quite temperate, I'm guessing due to the tree cover. Haven't been out there in winter, but it's possible I could bring them inside under extreme cold. But that's about it.
