Leatherique

I decided to spend some money replenishing my supplies and I came across a sale on leatherique, 32oz kit with brush, applicators and MF towel for 60 dollars. I took the deal and got the kit 2 days later.

Prep:
First I took some woolite and water 5:1 mixture and wiped./rubbed down the seats, followed up with a damp, then dry towel to dry, and repeated to ensure that all the body oils and lexol on the seat would be gone so the rejuvinator oil could do it's job.

Putting it on, the first time:
I used 2 ounces at most for the front seats each, i used a spray bottle and some rubber gloves. The rejuvinator oil spread easily and didn't get into the holes. I covered the whole seat, and got the seams with my fingers. I then took a hair-drier and heated up the seats for a few minutes each, then to the other, and back for a total of 20 minutes. I did this since it was 60 degrees out and was 6:30PM.

Taking it off, the first time:
After leaving it on there for about 2 more hours, I then went to clean it off. I took a dab of pristine clean and then had to RUB, and I mean RUB it into the leather in 4in by 4in sections, and it got the leather pretty clean. I couldn't see the results so well since it was 9 at night and then let it be.

Results, the first time:
I checked out the results the next morning (day off) and seats seemed a LOT better than before. No longer were they shiny, there had a great matt finish to them, but to my dismayal, there were a few dirt stains left, but still it was a vast improvement than before (I hadn't cleaned the leather for 3 months )

I re-preped the leather and tried again:
Putting it on the second time:
I parked the car in direct sunlight, rolled up the windows and took down the sun shades. I put the rejuvenator oil on this time, and used 3oz per seat, and did all the seats (total of 12oz used). It spread a whole lot easier than before and I got it so the leather had a VERY shiny coating of oil on it. I closed the doors and waited for 4 hours with the hot florida sun shining on it at about 80 degrees.

taking it off:
When I came back, the leather appeared slightly shiny and somewhat clouded. I took a dab of pristine clean and rubbed it in 4 x 4 inch sections. surprisingly, after rubbing the leather my white terry towel turned black . I cleaned off all the seats and was pretty happy with the results.
For some reason, I decided to take a damp MF towel and wipe down the seats. When I did the driver seat and looked at the towel, I was shocked, the MF towel was BLACK in color. there was so much dirt on the surface that it turned the towel black. I used the other side and this time it came out a lot lighter. I dried off the seat and the results are amazing:

RESULTS:
The leather now isn't shiny like it was before, it has a very nice matt finish to it, and now the color has been restored to the color it came from the factory, it isn't as dark now as it was when I used lexol, which clearly states on the bottle, may cause darkening of leather. As well where the leather stretched on my 04, it had dis-appeared. As well, the leather was much softer and easily pliable than before. Also to my surprise, the smaller wrinkles in the leather had dis-appeared, but the larger ones still remained. I have to say, the one thing that surprised me the most was the matt finish. Before my seat was UBER shiny from being polished when I got in, esp the side bolsters. When it was all said and done, the side bolsters were as matt as the seats. I was expecting some shine, but it was perfect!

I also forgot to mention that I used it on the steering-wheel. I barely used an oz and did the whole wheel, the second time doing the application. After wiping it off, I was amazed as well. All the oils from my hands that caused the wheel to look faded and shiny was gone. The leather was nice an matt and was much more comfortable.

Overall impression A, not A+
Reasons for not A+:
1. Pristine clean was hard to use, I really had to rub the leather hard to get the dirt and oil to come off, it should come in a slightly higher concentration.
2. the kit should come with a spray bottle

leatherique is great even though its pricey.

I usually let mine sit in the sun for 6 hours, with the sun shade up. direct sunlight is bad for leather.

then when i use perstine clean i used an upholstery brush to lightly agitate the product. the leather was basically sweating dirt.

they came from the factory in quartz, kinda like a dark grey, but not to dark. I was a religious lexol user, but as time went on the leather got darker and darker, as well some of the wrinkles had browish-redish dirt in it. After using leatherique, its all back to the way it came from the factory, i'm happy.

Good deal ... reason I asked the color cuz like most stuff the darker colors don't show the dirt thus a more dramatic result on the cleaning cloths ..

Sounds like ya did a great job

Leatherique is a great product. My front seats were very hard, I used Leatherique a few times and they got soft.

Protective coatings - are applied by spraying water-based acrylic polyurethane, which is porous, so it does not completely seal leather, per se. It’s also thermoplastic and therefore remains pliable to follow the flexing of the leather upholstery. The coating is less than 1-millionth of an inch thick, and is water permeable, thus allowing the leather hide to breathe and to allow hydration. Under normal conditions, the polyvinyl coating and the split leather hide will last the lifetime of the vehicle, but only if proper care is provided. Hydration is important to ensure that the leather hide does not dry out as this would make the leather more likely to absorb stains / spillages; as once these are absorbed they can be almost impossible to remove. While leather that is vinyl-coated is relatively easy to care for by virtue of its protective plastic surface, it is also inaccessible for purposes of maintenance.” Meaning, of course, there is absolutely no point to using leather conditioners on plastic coated leather

Iz einszett 'Plastik-Reiniger' - an intensive, non-corrosive, non-acidic two-phase deep cleaner, that removes grime build-up thoroughly and effortlessly, these chemicals restore your interiors original texture and resiliency; use to clean all coloured and clear water-based acrylic polyurethane covered automotive upholstery; this product is biodegradable, formalin-free and environmentally friendly.

Unlike cloth or leather, the surface of polyurethane generates static, which attracts dust. As a result, it can quickly become grimy, although vinyl and polyurethane covered upholstery is the easiest to clean. Do not use regular household soap and water as they will permanently remove the sheen
