Leather on '04 TL - vinyl coat?
Leather on '04 TL - vinyl coat?
I've been reading on caring for the leather interior of the TL, and apparently, there are separate schools of thought. There are products for leather that absorb into the leathe to keep it soft. There are also OTHER products designed for leather & vinyl, which are apparently recommended for leather products that come with a very thin vinyl protecting coating. My question is, does anyone know if the leather in the '04 TL has this thin vinly protective coating?
Thanks,
Garrett

It is called finished leather, or semi-aniline - I don't think vinyl is quite the right term. Here is a source of info on leather - Townsend makes some of the best for expensive aircraft, and their leather care products are great. Their ink remover just saved me from something my 6-year old did, and their conditioners contains a protectant that is far better than Meguiar's or lexol products I have also used.

The good news is that if your leather gets damaged, these guys (and they are part of The Leather Insitute) can lead you to nearby professionals who can fix the top coat so it never looks like anything happened.
