Last minute check - which pads?

99% sure I'm going to order my XP today. I can reuse parts to make my PC, so there's an expense I don't need to spend on. And with the deal I'm anticipating, I can't pass up the opportunity.

I'm going to go with M105 and 205, and I'm pretty sure I'll be going with LC 5.5" pads - they seem to be a majority concensus on all the websites. And I'd rather stick with one manufacturer to keep the confusion down.

But the colors - I have no idea. I know I need at least one orange. And a white or green or gray.

If I were to pick up 6 5.5" CCS pads, what colors would you get for a beginner?

This is what I was planning to get with my order - 2 Orange (Medium Cut) + 2 White (Light cut) + 1Gray (or is it black) + 1 red (for glazes)
If the orange didn't take care of the swirls/RIDS, then I could always add a Purple pad for major correction.

Flat pads are a much better choice with 105/205 IME.

If you're just getting those two polishes, I'd go with 4 orange and 2 black (grey). If you've got other polishes you're playing with too, I'd get 2 each of orange, white, and black.

I also currently have Poliseal, which I have not yet tried. Flat pads, eh? Who has the best deal on those?

Todd,
If you still use the old PC, would it be enough for 6.5 pads?
Also, my brother gave me bottles of P203s and a PO85rd,
which combo pads would you recommend?
Thanks,
Raoul

I buy pad kits from excel, but since he's discontinuing the 5.5 pads you may have to check out DI. For a set you would want orange, white, black and red. Probably 2 orange and 2 white that would make 6 total

I've used Poliseal on my Odyssey. It's a very nice product. No dusting!
Over the long weekend I worked on the Odyssey.
I mixed Optimum Polish+Finish Polish (2:1) on white pad, and then followed it up with Poliseal (on white), then sealed it with Opti-seal.
BTW, thanks Patrick for suggesting Optimum!

Now, on a side note, how do i insert pics here?

Unfortunately, only 4" and 6.5". I know 4" isn't what I need for a whole car, but I don't have anything in particular against 6.5", except I heard that 5.5" and 6" were the best of all worlds.

Sorry for being dumb, but what is "^"? Should I be typing this symbol, followed by the image, then the word "picture" ?

6.5's are discontinued, not 5.5"!
2 Orange, 2 White, 1 black, 1 red FTW.

I'm still considering the Optimum polishes as well, as shipping from ADS with the sample sizes is ridiculous.

I feel your pain. Seriously, when I receive products shipping is astronomical.............(Unless its from out west), oh hell, even Chem Guys which is like an hr from me, kills me. I think there's some gouging going on! LOL. I could more then likely drive to CG's for cheaper (In a SUV) then what they charge me for shipping......

Yes.

That depends on a few variables (color, type, condition of paint), but I usually use 203/white and 85rd/grey or blue.

Another easy way to find sytax for inserting pictures is to quote a message which has a pic embeded and see the syntax used ....

Well, the paint is relatively in good condition. It's a 4 yr old car, and I have tried my best to wash and maintain it carefully. But, it still has some very fine swirls and scrathes, so probably, your 203/white + 85rd/grey would do, huh?

Thanks for your input.

BTW, love your work!!

OK, can 5.5" pads be used on a 5" pad?

Also, still looking for final polish recommendations.
