Lame Towel Question

This may be the dumbest question ever posted, but where is a good place to find some white made in the USA 100% cotton towels? I wouldn't expect these to be too hard to find, but everywhere I actually find them there is like a 5-dozen mimimum.

Any help is appreciated. Clearly I've never had a car worth keeping nice before, hehehe.

Any chance of converting you to microfibers?

Maybe target or Wal-Mart? If they are for your car, you may want to check out some of the MANY quality MicroFiber (MF) towels, as they are easier on the paint of your car.

Any reason or specific uses for those? Like drying or product removal. And why not MF? It does all that and more. If you can't find them, suggest you check out DF Concours Towels as another option.

They are for washing/drying my car.

I don't have anything specifically against micro-fiber towels. I just saw that cotton towels were specifically recommended by the polish that I bought, so I figured I'd follow the letter of their law.

I actually don't know a whole lot about the difference between the cotton and micro-fiber towels. Judging by the replies here, it sounds like MF are actually preferable. I'll look into those then.

Thanks for the replies!

‘Microfiber’ is a generic term usually used to describe a towel made from polyester fibres.

But micro fibre by definition (very small; involving minute quantities or variations) is not a fabric; but a yarn, that’s spun into thread, which is then used to weave a terry fabric. These ultra-fine yarns (2X as fine as silk and 100X finer than a human hair) are made form various sources, they can be made from many different materials, such as a 70% Polyester 30% Polyamide or a natural material such as cellulose (i.e. 100% cotton) a plant carbohydrate.

Yep, Zaino it is! A guy I work with recommended it, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Just the simple All-In-One + Clear Seal for now, if I like that maybe I'll try some of the other stuff they have.

Thanks for the MF info. I studied up a bit on it yesterday too, and found a couple towels I like.

I've been using Zaino for years and used 100% cotton towels at first. After reading about microfiber, I made the switch about four years ago and have never looked back. I usually get all my microfiber towels from here: www.pakshak.com I highly recommend getting a waffle weave towel for drying at the very least.

Hey, that's where I get my towels from!

A little aloha spirit with each one!

What about sizes and quantity? How many waffle weave towels should I look at getting to go from car wash to wax/polish to finish?

MF towels come in a variety of sizes. The most common and popular size for removing products is probably 16 X 16. 14 X 14 is available also as well as 17 X 25. Waffle Weaves (WW) averages about 26 X 35 and 16 X 26. I have 6 WW of various dimensions, about 18 (16 X 16) polishing towels and about 20-24 (16 X 16) multi-purpose towels (bulk type from Costco). I think I still got some new ones bagged somewhere in the garage. Check post #7 of this thread for MF online sites.

tedo - I'm a Zaino user as well - Patrick (exceldetail) hooked me up with some kick a$$ MF towels.

They are 110% fantastic - I think Zaino would approve .

The towels are the best I have ever purchased (I threw all of my no name ones away) - and his service is absolutly the best !!!

I ended up getting some polishing towels and drying towels from here: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/

My Zaino stuff arrived Wednesday, and I think the towels are arriving today. We'll see how it all works this weekend! This is the first time washing the new car, so I'm pretty pumped, hehehe.
