I have 05 tl WDP. Live in Chicago. Some of u know when the winter comes how bad it gets. What is the best way to take care of the paint before the snow comes?

i would just worry about getting a good layer of protection on the vehicle for winter...then do a full detail in the spring. go with a durable wax such as collinite 845 to last through the nasty weather. i'll let others chime in with their opinions now...

At this point, its just about that easy. Collinite would be great choice. And im not huge nuba fan, but the boys over at Collinite really have something going with both the 845 Liquid Insulator and 476 Super Double Coat Auto Wax
Its proven itself over the years and has a very loyal following as well...

Thanks guys. I guess I'm little bit late because the snow is coming up now and they are saying Chicago could get up to 14" snow.

Ok guys,
I went to Murray's after work and got Mothers Sealer & Glaze which thay say it is step 2. Also, I got Mothers Carnauba Wax which is step 3.

What I need from u guys to tell me what is the best way to use it. Some of u might say read the directions but some AcuraZine members were saying that they had applied 2 coats of wax ( first coat let it dry then second coat let it dry and then remove). Should I do it that way or it is not necessary.

Thanks in advance

Tim

Tim, the sealer/glaze if ok during a complete detail. But you dont even have anything to clean the paint. I would just go with the Nuba wax if thats the best available to you.....(Its not the best route but its the best with what you have at hand)The Nuba wax actually has a very small amount of cleaner in it which may help remove some contaminants.
If you use the sealer/glaze, your going to end up "sealing/glazing" over dirty paint. This is why its important to clean the paint prior to sealing.

So should I go and get the Mothers pre-wax cleaner ( which is step 1 ) ?

And also, Should I apply to coats of wax or just follow Mothers' direction?

To avoid confusion, the process would normally be:
1. Wash - removes road grime, dirt and debris on the painted surface
2. Clay - removes imbedded contaminants
3. Polish - removes surface defects and imperfections i.e. swirls, minor scratches, oxidation and at the same time gives gloss and reflectivity to the paint
4. Seal - the last barrier will protect what you did in the previous step

It would be better as Patrick mentioned to get the surface as clean as possible prior to applying any wax/sealant. With the onset of the winter season, I would forego the claying and concentrate on paint protection. You can put two coats on it. Mothers Pre Wax cleaner is actually a very good product when used in conjuction with the rest of the system. Personally, I prefer the Reflections Advanced Car Wax over the "Nuba.
