How to treat this dirty little turbocharged hatchback?
So, I have been so busy with work that I literally had to give up thinking about cleaning my car for about 2 months.
I've been loving every second behind the wheel of my car since it's sooooo fun to drive.
However, every time I look at my dirty car, I feel so bad about it.
I used to wash my car every Saturday when I was in school since I was living in my parents house where I could just easily wash my car in front of the house for like 4 hours.
But after I moved out, it's now a totally different story. If I ever want to wash my car, I have to drive out to a near coin car wash places and do it over there.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, it's one of those weirdly easy day at work which is pretty damn rare at my work.
My real question is that my car is extremely dirty right now to the point where I don't want to touch it because just washing it would leave swirls all over for sure. What should I do?
It has about 11,000 miles and is about 22 months old.. Never claybar-ed ever before.
I actually wanted to get it detailed by a local member here (240HP??), but he's about 60 miles away from where I live.

Damn it! You were 260, 240. Sorry.
Yeah, I'll try to get some pics tomorrow. I'll just use my cell phones.
Is it just 30 miles?? Why did I think it's like 60-70 miles..

Why cant you use ONR where ever you park?
Fill two buckets, take them out to the car, and wash it. No need to worry about having a hose.

ONR stands for Optimum No Rinse. It's a rinseless car wash. I've been using this stuff for years now and it doesn't disappoint: doesn't leave any swirls behind and you can even wash the car in the garage when it's cold outside.
As for the car being too dirty for a wash, I would just hose it down really well to make sure the dirt is softened and the dust is removed from the surface. Combine that with some quality wash mitts and good soap (or ONR) and you shouldn't create any swirls.

Oh yeah, I heard of that stuff long time ago. Never really thought about trying it out since I didn't really have a need for it. But I guess that would work perfectly in my current situation.

I'm going to watch some demonstration vids on youtube and order those big ones. It's like 30 something bucks. Wonder how long that's going to last.

A hwhile. I bought the big container of ONR in February and Ive only knocked out maybe 1/5th of it, and thats washing multiple cars often. The big container can easily last a year. I love using this stuff in the winter too, just with warm water.
ONR once a week, QD (quick detailer) in between, and I have no use for normal car wash soap (until I need to strip everything off the paint).

Sounds very promising.
So, should I get my car detailed once and start using the ONR regularly?
I mean it's been almost 2 years without doing any polishing and waxing.. Poor car
Or should I just get the ONR and start washing it.

It is time consuming but well worth it.
JS - Since your car is new, your paint probably isnt that bad. But you should still protect it.

OMG just realized I still didn't touch my car til now.
I made this thread about 6 months ago!!!
I'm going to take some pictures and send them to 260HP this weekend...
For some reason, my car doesn't look that dirty.

^cause it just rained LOL
I neglected my paint alottt and researched on porter cables, polishes and wax and just went to work on my cars! I love how they turned out and they're easy to use! only bad thing is that its time consuming... and buying everything initially will be sorta pricey (may most less than some real detail work tho) but after doing a few cars, it'll pay for itself. I'm in Monterey Park/Alhambra area...lmk if u need any help!

ONR is the best thing to come along with regards to car care in the last 10 years. Easily cuts washing time in half once you get the technique down, if you have water restrictions you can either buy a few gallons of distilled water at the grocery store or pull the car in the garage, shut the door and wash inside away from prying eyes. Not to mention the great job it does cleaning the car and adding back gloss and slickness.
