How to prevent brake dust??

Prevent probably isn't the best word to use. I guess the only way to really prevent would be to put on ceramic pads. I don't really have much of a problem getting the brake dust off by using some sonax wheel cleaner but it's just a pain in the ass because i feel like i have to do it every 4-5 days to keep the rims looking nice. Anyone have any tips / tricks to try to keep it off for any decent amount of time. I've used some Prima Wheel Armor but it didn't really work that well. TIA..

Do you have the 6MT version? If you do the dusting is actually more from the rotors than the actual pads... Brembo's are by far one of the best as far as stoping power/virtually noise free/fade resistance, but yes the softer rotor contributes to most of the nasty grey dust you get...
new rotors, either racing brakes/stoptech/matching pads from either vendor... will maintain most of the stoping power/low noise and reduce lots of your dusting...

Going to ceramic will only really help if you go to a harder rotor as well. GL

Definitely the pads producing the dust, not the rotors. He was not saying anything about red dust. My brembos will dirty my wheels in just a day, they are filthy pads.

Tell ya a secret... wheel cleaners are needed only for wheels that have been negleted ... brake dust will come off with regular car wash soap if your washing your car once a week etc. Wheel cleaners even tho so called pH balanced aren't doing your wheels any good and will be removing the wax you have on them faster than reg car wash soap.

And as far as protecting your wheels a lot of the "Wheel Waxes" are a lot of marketing. Even Wheel Wax themselves said you should reapply once a month which tells me it has no life concidering the average car is washed every 1 or 2 weeks.

Put on a couple layers of a good sealant and it will last many "normal soap" washes. A good cheap one for wheels is NuFinish and an overall good low $$ sealant is Duragloss #105.

I meant to say Poorboys Word Wheel Sealant, not polish (look at me misusing terms! lol)

Heres a link

And just like Jess said, if you are using a "wheel cleaner" when you wash your car, chances are you are striping wax and sealant off faster then you want to. I just hit my wheels with a few squirts of diluted P21S TAW and wash with regular soap.
