I've still got residual salt on the interior carpet on my driver's side despite trying to scrub it off. The all-weather mats from Acura kept the majority of the carpet from being salted during the winter, but the edges are in pretty bad shape already, and I've only had the car seven months. Is there anything else I can do to get the salt off? I've tried a couple of types of auto carpet shampoo to no avail. Is it time to go to a professional detailer?

Does anyone have any way to get the deep, ground in salt residue behind the accelerator pedal?

 

carpet cleaning machine. Go rent one for a few hours. It should do the trick.

 

Why didn't I think of a carpet extractor? DUH. I should be able to rent one from Home Depot easily. After all, scrubbing will only grind the salt into the carpet.
