Help!

My car was parked under a tree and now its covered in these tiny dots. They are pretty much clear...like some sort of sap I think. But it doesnyt come off! Evenb if i scratch at it with my nails it barely comes off. Washing didnt help, and my glass cleaner didnt get it all off my windows.

Any advice?? I am thinking of using very hot water whcih may melt or soften the sap and make it easier to come off.

Only thing to watch out for with the tar remover is that it apparently takes any waxes or polishes off the car and is'nt that good for the paint in general from what I've heard so use it sparingly and re-apply whatever you had on the paint after using it.

Those sound like either sap or bird poop. In any case, domn is correct about the clay bar. First off, do not use toothpaste, as toothpaste is abrasive as hell, it will scratch your car. Hot water is ok, but hot water and soap together will kill your car. I've never used bug and tar remover as I have heard it can damage your car's clear coat.

I recomend that you use a clay bar kit to get ride of the clear spots on you car. You can pick up "clay magic" at any autozone, and most pepboys. http://www.clay-magic.com/. It is very easy to use. When you are done, you may want to put some wax on the areas where you used the clay bar at. If you are too lazy to wax, get a bottle of Zymol Detail or Meguiar's Quick Wax.

I've already used the Meguirs 3 step cleaner, polish, wax. Took me over 3 hours to do the car ... but I guess I will have to do it again.

The stuff thats on my car is not bird crap...they are tiny little pin prick sized drops...and are EVERYWHERE on the car. I have been doing some research and it turns out they may actually be bug droppings from the tree. Either way I've got to get this crap off.

How long would it take to clay bar the entire car?

Zaino Bros site suggest using their Zaino Car wash Z3? straight out of the bottle. A little expensive but if it works it's probably worth it.

It takes me an average of 1+ hr to do a car. When you finish with the clay bar process, u can skip the cleaner and polish. Just put a layer of wax on it. If you get a chance, go pick up a jar of S100 wax at your local harley davidson shop for 10 bux. The stuff is relabeled P21S Carnauba Wax that sells for 25 bux. The S100 can replace the wax in meguir's 3 step. S100 literally wipes on and wipes off. This wax will not leave a white residue on plastic surfaces. I've been using it for some time and S100 is wonderful. It only takes me about half an hour to wax my tsx with the S100.

note- S100 wont replace all three steps in the M system - its purely shine . .. no removal products involved with it . ..as one of the M steps is to remove what was already on the car . .

nice stuff though - and up here in Canada - its 29.95 at a harley shop . ..

You can clay an entire car in 1 hour? It's more like 3-4 hours if you are doing it right and are anal about it.

Anyway... if you use bug/tar remover just remember to rinse afterwards. That should do the trick. You might have to polish/wax again.

If you decide to clay it, just make sure to use lots of spray (lubrication) and use a high quality clay bar (Mother's has a good one). And don't drop the clay bar... it picks up everything and will only scratch you car if you use it.

The best thing that I have found to remove sap is nail polish remover. I live in FL and we have a lot of trees that drop sap all over my car so I have used this trick thousands of times! Remember to rinse the area after you clean the sap. Also, the nail polish remover takes the wax off the area in which it was applied so you may want to go over each spot and then wash and wax the entire thing. The process is a real pain but if it is, in fact, sap this will work well.

the cars in my garage get washed almost weekly, so the clay bar process is very fast. using a huge bottle of meguiar's quick detailer for lube also makes the process faster because you are not worried about running out.

Try a little WD40. Won't hurt the paint but you will have to re-wax the car.

my experiences... use clay bar, you got to use it, save your mondy on bug and tar remover, because zaino will make it easy removed in the future. my TSX had tar, sap, and rail dust on it and the dealer did not clean them even after i paid the protection package; cleaner wax did not help, bug and tar remover did not help, clear coat polish did not help neither, they make my car look so good except remove these little blick dots... suggest by the forum, i tried Clay Bar, and all of dots went off easily... wish you goog luck !!

One more for the clay... I had this happen to my dad's jetta a couple of weeks ago at the golf course. Had to clay it, worked like a charm.
