i recently moved and the water at my house leaves water marks like you wouldnt believe. i have a hunch its because the water is "hard". how could i solve this problem. obviously i might need some type of filtration system. would mr clean auto do the job??

You could have a water softener added to your home. This would not only help you with washing your car but it will help the hot water heater, dishwater and washing machine. It will also extend the life of your clothes, not to mention how they'll feel wearing them. A good water softener 400-800 bills plus installation.
I've been looking at doing this but there's not enough space in the utility room at this time.
Detailing Water Filtration Unit
The CR Spotless DI100WM provides approximately 100 gallons of mineral-free, de-ionized water based on your water input quality. It consists of two 10-inch de-ionization housings that feature replaceable cartridges that simply slide into the watertight tubes. This unit can be mounted next to your hose bib and comes with pre-drilled mounting holes.
The unit has a water purity indicator light that, when plugged into any normal (I would advice the use of a TFI) AC outlet, illuminates when the de-ionization resin is still active, when the light no longer activates, it's time to replace the resin. (Includes two 10-inch cartridges, unit weight 30 Lbs.

I do too. I can't use any filter or treatment cause it's building water.
I only wash in the morning or at dusk, & don't let the water dry on the car. It's been fine the last 3 years.

I live in a apartment complex with hard water also. I normally wash with the "hard water" and rinse with water a run from my Brita water filter I modded to fit the nozzle in my bath tub. Takes alittle time to fill up 5-6 buckets, but no waterspots like before.
