Guys I need help on this...Please read.

I just bought an '01 naples gold tl-p and I cleaned the seats and conditioned with the meguiar's wipes. It was fine until I was wiping the front passenger seat cushion when i realized that it was discoloring the seat! I was like wtf!

so I took it to the dealer where I bought it (lexus dealership) and I told them what happened. It turns out that they have a guy that actually spraypaints the seats (I saw him do it) to cover up repairs, wear, etc... Cheap Asses!

The guy who does it couldnt remember what seats in my car he spraypainted or not, so he just re-spraypainted the seat where the paint came off. Now how am I supposed to know which seats to condition, b/c I don't want to wipe this stupid paint off again!

I already made them redo it once, and supposedly it lasts a year, but what the hell do I do after a year? If I condition the seats it will just come off again! The manager was nice and was cool with them respraying it, but I don't want the leather to go to shit just because I cant condition them!

Now I know it is a few years old, but I feel they tried to cover it up. I saw the guy doing it to several other lexus's also.

I don't know what to do.

Thanks guys.

Sounds like a crappy cover-up, I've never heard of spraying the whole seat.. I would talk to a high end leather furnature store and see what they would reccomend. I would see if you could clean all the paint off the seats and hopefully fix the discoloration in the seats.

I can hardly believe they painted the damn leather, if it is supposed to last a year that means it rubs off on your jacket, shirt and pants for that entire year!!!! If they said it lasts forever then it wouldn't rub off, but if they told you it wears off and you were able to clean it with your leather wipe, it will definitely come off on your clothes...

Damn

I never heard of that - I would take it back to the dealer and make them clean it off - then see what condition the seats are in - this would have affected me buying the car -

yeh guys, i posted this in the 2nd gen forum as well, but the discoloration IS the paint coming off, exposing the original leather, since it wasn't an exact paint match.

I feel like a dick about bringing it back AGAIN to the dealer, although i probably should.
