getting my car ready for a car show..

i have minor swirls in my SSM TL i'd like to get rid of..
this is the setup i've been using for awhile

1. Clay Bar
2. Deep Crystal System Paint Cleaner (1 coat)
3. Deep Crystal System Polish (2 coat)
4. NXT Generation™ Tech Wax (1 coat)

since i have some swirls i wanna get rid of should i add "ScratchX" to the list?

if so, should i apply it before the paint cleaner or after?

anyother tips would be helpful. thanks

You can get it at any auto parts store. Takes some work and does not smell to great, but neither does the paint cleaner.

Scratch X works on really light swirls, but again, elbow grease is needed. I use this before the wax.

How to give your car The Perfect Shine . This is an incredible how-to page. For your questions, I would check out "how to use the porter cable". This machine can beautifully polish out any swirl you have. Remember, for a show, always use a carnauba wax, as this will provide a shine that is far superior to a sealant. Good luck!

oh yes...carnauba all the way. It is one of the best waxes out there in my opinion. Once it's applied it gives an incredibly deep shine. Definitely worthy for car show and concours applications. Also...s100 (P21S) last a very long time compared to other carnauba waxes. Here's a hint. Right before the car show, spray some quick detailer on your finish. This will give your car's paint a super shiny, very slick feel. the judges will go wild! My friend waxed his door handles 3 times each, and when the judge went to open the door it slipped right off! It was awesome.

P21S n S100 are basically the same product but repackaged under different names...P21S costs 32 dollars n S100 only costs 15...s100 can be used for a car wax...heres a pic of my car after i put on a layer of nxt n 2 layers of s100...24 hrs apart..

Wet Look (Pleasanton, Ca)

I have a BLACK TL same year as yours, I think. I had swirls so bad I considered trading the car in for a different color.

I applied 3 coats of Zaino Z-2 polish by hand on Sunday and the swirls are now gone. I didn't even use the Zaino swirl mark remover. I just got the swirl remover in the mail today, but now it looks like I don't need it until the next time I do another major wash, since I would have to Dawn & clay bar before the swirl remover.

I didn't believe what everyone on this site had said about Zaino, but now I will never use anything else. (ever again.)

With a black car, the Zaino makes it look more and more like a mirror with every coat. Not sure about your color.

Have you ever tried Zaino? Maybe with your color car it doesn't have the same effect as it would on a darker color?

im all about the sealant, polymer, synthetic what ever u wanna call them (ie zaino, klasse etc) and then a coat of really good carnuba wax!
best shine im my opinion

after dawn and all that dont forget to go over all the rubber and plastic with some back to black or something like that to restore the shine of the rubber and plastic that may look faded... but u prob got that covered already

Yes, Z-2 got rid of the swirls. Yes, it was hard to use.
It was my first time using Zaino, so It probably took longer than it should have. 4 hours, but it was worth it.
And I did it all by hand, so I'm sure that made it take longer.
