Is a foam gun "better" than the 2 bucket method ?

 

Your best bet is to use a foam gun in conjunction with the two bucket wash method. By using a foam gun you are able to pre-treat the car by sudsing up the paint without using the wash mitt or sponge to do so. Since this minimizes friction on your paint, you are less likely to add swirls to the finish.

Using a foam gun will also allow you to suds up areas like wheel wells, part of the under carriage in the engine bay and other hard to reach areas with ease.

Certainly a nice asset to any detailing enthusiast.

 

You will also need full shade ... dried soap on the car isn't much fun.
