Fixing Key Marks

Hello my car was keyed on the door, can run fingernail thru it, and I want to know any possible fix for it? I have the touch-up paint that came with the car. I just dont want to screw up what already is bad. Thanks a lot!

I have tried scratch removing products and compounds, but no luck.

Serious scratch issues are difficult. They really need to be filled then wetsanded, finally compounded and polished.

if your fingernail gets caught when you drag it across, it mostlike is too deep to polish out. that sucks, i get mad when i find new light scratches, a keymark would really piss me off.

^yea my fingernail catches it. so i would touch it up with like a toothpick, then wetsand it smooth?

What grit? And how exactly should i finish it off?

you probably won't be able to fix this yourself. If it's a long scratch, you'll never get it right. Probably cost a couple hundred to get it painted right. Insurance will cover it less deductible.

^I wish i had complete coverage, but thats bout 3.5G's a year since im young

I have liability on that car. not covered. Its a writing and not a long stretched mark... I might try a toothpick touchup and wetsand.. Hmmm, maybe

Try some 1500 - 2000 grit, then buff after

try going to a body shop and see how much for a touch up.
Theyll be able to put some color on the scratch, a little clear and then cut it and buff it. it'll look a lot better than just dabbing some paint on it.
then again, I dont know if the scratch is bad enough to be worth the money.
