Failing clearcoat?

2 days ago i washed, clayed and waxed my car and came across a 10mm mark on the hood. i am afraid if the clearcoat is failing. i tried claybar and used cleaner wax but it's still there. i rubbed my nail on it doesn't feel smooth and it has no gloss to it. please help

it's a 99 acura tl.... it looks like a stain on the paint and i just tried to take few shoots but camera can't capture it as it's very unnoticeable.

Rough spot? Discoloration?

it's little rough campared to the surrounding paint. i guess it doesn't have any clearcoat on it as it doesn't reflect the images when i look at an angle. it does look metallic though.

A picture would help a LOT to see what it really is

I actually have a spot exactly like that on my hood in nearly the same spot.

Acid rain fallout or a bug stain. Probably not an indication of a failing clearcoat.

I don't think that's a failing clear coat, that's not how it looks like.

Did you try to polish away? Does it go away? You can do it by hand...

yes, try Ultimate Compound or M105 from Meguiars. Either use terry towel or applicator pad to work the polishing compound in and then wipe if off with clean terry towel. If that doesn't go away, then its something I've never seen lol.
