I was washing my car in the parking lot in front of my apartment complex where I've been living for the past coupla months. My neighbor(who had never said a word to me before) was walking out of his apartment and stopped to say "nice car" before he got into his car. Oh the joys of owning an Acura.

There is this older couple that always walks by my house. Everytime he comments how nice the car looks and "Why are you washing it, it's not even dirty".

Where is my super sauce?
My neighbor laughs every time she sees me washing my car. She also is impressed with the job I've done and keeps prodding me to wash her car too.
I just got a complement yesterday from a toll operator on the PA turnpike.

Me Too!
I live in a townhouse complex, and every other weekend when I wash my CL I get all kinds of comments, ranging from "didn't you just wash it last week?" to "you've got it looking like new money" to "Hey, how about washing mine next?".. The latter comment I get almost *every* time I'm out there washing my car... Sometimes it's middle-aged people/couples, sometimes it's some of the college-aged girls in the complex...
[edit: NSXNEXT: my dad gives me the "it's not even dirty" routine all the time when he stops by my place.. He just doesn't get it...]

simple answer - yes.
long answer - yessssssssssssssssss
anyways, i have been given good comments, stares, etc when doing my own cars over the last couple of years -
but its even better from neighbours who dont know me well, but know what kind of cars i have - when i do a customers car.
i have done a few at my place for "special" customers - and they have ranged from 2 different vettes, jag - and benz - all within about a month
they always ask if i just got it,. and i have a little fun with them....
i tell them they are on loan - im testing them out to see if i want to buy it - and part of my test is to see how well the clean up and look when im done . . .
its my quirky sense of humour - but there i am spending 6-7 hours on a car - and dont keep any of them . . .
it must make them wonder about me . . .

You only wash it ever other weekend? Geez I wash mine three times a week! I guess I'm a bit fanatical, plus mines black, shows dirt easier.

Yeah, well, mine's black too, and if I could wash it more often I would, but here in NJ we've been on a pretty severe drought restriction all summer long. They just recently lifted it enough to wash cars only on weekends... So yeah, I guess I could be washing it every weekend... Three times a week would be pretty much impossible for me though... Wish I could though.
