Need suggestion on cleaning up under the hood. Is there a problem using the pressure washer at the local car wash??

I've always wondered this. Is it good to spray water in there? It seems like there's lots of places water shouldn't get. But this is definitely something that if you keep up with, it's easy.

So you just stick the water wand under the hood and spray down everything?

I take a wet towel and just wipe off everything after I'm done washing the car. I wash my car about once a week so cleaning it everytime keeps it from getting dirty enought to need to hose it down. Try autopia.org, there is a column on how to clean the engine bay properly...it's pretty involved though.

yeah thats how I clean the car's seats and interior too j/k

i dont drench it, i just spray it down and then wipe it clean. its not like the engine bay is water tight so I figured a little water wouldnt hurt. if I am crazy someone let me know.

no problem on getting engine bay wet. I do our cars about once a month with P21S Total Auto Wash and have had no problems. I dont cover anything. Just be sure not to soak the engine bay upon final rinse. You should be fine.
