Engine bay detailing

Is it safe to pressure spray the engine bay with water?

I'm not sure if there are any water-sensitive parts that I can damage by doing this...

Thanks in advance.

I've had it for about 6 months, I'm thinking in the future when I have the car for a year or two.

If it was me, I wouldn't touch the engine with pressurized water. If you really want to get it cleaned get it steamed. The water can get into the wires and other electrical equipment.

This usually doesn't do anything to the car. The car ususally doesn't start for a few hours because the contacts are wet and you just have to wait a few hours to let it dry and then fire it up. I usually turn the car on when I apply water to the engine. Making sure that the engine is cold and not hot when the water is applied.

My 2 cents...

I spray mine with Simple Green and a garden hose sprayer, with the engine warm, not hot, then blow it dry with a shop-vac. You can finish it off with some armor-all or other protectant and it will look great. I've done this for 10 years on various cars and never had electrical trouble.

WOW!! I do this too (except I don't air dry it with shop-vac. I've never had any trouble either. I cover the distributor with a plastic bag and that's it. No problems whatsoever.
