Engine bay cleaning?
I've been wanting to clean the engine bay of my car for the longest time, like clean as in make it shine and sparkle more then it did before I got it at the dealer kinda clean, but I'm not sure if I can just spray the engine with a hose and chemicals or what, and I don't wanna try, LOL.
So can anyone help me on this?

of course you can spray the engine with water and chemicals.
Just make sure you dont spray on the fuse box, battery and alternator.
I use an engine de-greaser. spray it all over the engine. then use a brush to brush it in, and let it do its magic.
then spray with water.
After you get done and it dries, dress the black plastic pieces with a tire shine. if not, the engine degreaser will leave it looking pasty white.

I've found that Black Magic Tire Wet is great for this kind of thing. I don't like it on tires, but have used it as hose dressing and on plastic parts like the under-spoiler and engine bay covers.

Won't hurt anything, but probably not necessary. When you drive in the rain, your filter is getting wet and it's not a problem.

I prefer to use Simple Green to clean my engine compartment... It does a great job and it's not too harsh on all the plastic (no white film like other de-greasers), and I don't like to use Black Magic because it attracts dust... just my

1. Cover up alternator/any exposed wiring/intake if filter is exposed. (Aluminum foil or plastic bag with rubber bands around it, or both like what I do, lol)
2. Spray degreaser of your choice (Zep Citrus from home improvement stores comes to mind)
3. Let it sit for a few minutes
4. Agitate with brush
5. Rinse it off with a gentle stream of water.
6. Dress engine with your favorite dressing, I used 303 aerospace protectant.

I also use Zep Citrus but for just a basic cleaning I thin it down with water as my engine compartment is not very greasy.
Definitely cover the alt and exposed wiring if you let it sit for a few minutes. Also, ensure all your dipsticks are inserted, caps/covers closed.
I also turn down my hose pressure to help prevent forcing chemicals into somewhere the don't belong from water pressure.
Good luck
