Dumb Question: What Kind of Sponge Do You Use?

I have nothing but crappy sponges which [not surprisingly] do a crappy job cleaning my cars.

What is everyone else using? I'm not as anal as some of the people on the board (no offense ) so anything decent that gets the dirt off and doesn't fall apart is fine with me.

I always use some sort of Mitt. Currently a soft thread-like mitt, but I may try a sheepskin - that has been praised in the past.

I use sheepskin mitts exclusively. They are great and can be washed in the washing machine and dried at low heat in the dryer. Just don't use a product like Bounce when drying. If you are not "anal" and want a quick quality wash & dry try the new Mr. Clean Car Wash system. No drying & no water spots when done.

Sheepskin wool mitt. After researching, seems like this was the best pick as far as being gental on the clear coat and cleaning. Just don't wash your wheels with the mitt.

Vagisil and Kotex have a nice one..

OH.. for the car.. I have a mitten shaped sheepskin. and I use the Maguiars Gold Class soap. Taint waxed the Accord in probably 2 years and it still beads from the GoldClass, and the TL loves it just as sweetly.

I get most of my stuff from autogeek or properautocare. There's a link to one of them at the top of this forum.

Sheepskin can't take off a lot of the tougher stuff on your car though, keep that in mind.

Bought a couple of sheepskin mitts at Wal-Mart for under $20 only because I wash the car more than I do laundry.

If you can find out who made that brush I bet you could get it somewhere else on the net for at least 30% less. Griots has contract with their vendors that says they (Griots) will not give out the manufacturer's name and address. Hope Griots knows that leaves them with all the liability burdens with all the products they sell. Great catalog and lots of neat products but waaaaay overpriced. Hell, with that clause in all their contracts you can still see the mfgr's name on some of the catalog pictures. Too funny...

Probably even cheaper. Some of their prices are insanely high compared to other places on the net.

Sheepskin is the best - you want something like that to trap the dirt in the mit and take it away from the surface of the car...towels, sponges are bad becuase all your doing it rubbing the dirt across the surface.
