Angry It drives me CRAZY....

Ok, here's the deal - I polish / wax my families vehicles for them, which I don't mind doing, because I enjoy doing this kind of stuff. BUT, then when it snows, out my Dad goes with his push broom (shown below), to 'brush off' the car. I can not imagine this is great for the car to use this type of broom on the actual paint. I think I've convinced him if he really has to use this, only use it on the windows at least.

Here's my question: Do any of you in snow areas know of any type of 'snow brush' that is safe to use on the actual painted sections of the car (roof, hood, etc)???

This is why I park inside....

This is the results of parking inside A clean TL...but then I don't want to drive it when it snows, so it sits inside haha and I take the Honda Pilot.

I live in snow country and its not the brushing off of the snow that causes the damage .. its the snow / ice dragging the crud/dirt off as you push it.

There is no safe thing no matter who markets it .. Car lots use special brushes and those aren't bad on clean cars but drive it once and its not clean ..

There is no good answer. Safest thing to do is take off all but the last inch if possible. if not .. either you make it slide off and mar or mother nature does .. or just let it sit to melt.

Thanks Jesstzn - I guess I never really thought of it like that...I was thinking more of those stiff bristles on the broom rubbing against the paint

Pat - that picture is NOT FAIR!!! haha.

Ah, you're in Highland Park, not to far from my work (I work in Des Plaines), but I live out in Darien. So, you know what I mean after this weekend of snow and this freezing cold weather today!

Back when I lived in MD, my friend used to hose off his snow with water. I think his outdoor faucet had a cold/warm setting on it so he'd always get warm water whenever he wanted.

Oh man, a warm water setting would be the best! I'll have to look into this...I don't think something like that would be so easy to put in after the fact.

I'd like it for other reasons, but for snow removal, then I'd have an ice skating rink on my front driveway, haha.

Besides the windshield, why would you need to brush the snow off the car anyway? Dosent it fall off as you drive?

Life is way too short to be so anal about paint. If your old man wants to scratch up his car let him. Or buy him a regular snow brush instead of a friggin store room broom.

Yeah, nice thanks guys - and thanks for the updated pics Pat haha, j/k. I did see on the news though of those areas of CA getting hit with the snow and in Reno, NV how some levy broke.

I know what you mean, but if I actually get him something that works better, he'll use it, otherwise he doesn't care. Reminds of the time I'm washing my car and he has all this grease and crap on his hands from working on something and he comes by my bucket of water, grabs my wash mit and proceeds to wash his hands w/my mit and in my water. Haha.

I always hated pushing snow off my hood and stuff up in Jersey but at the time i lived with my parents who happened to have a hot water thing outside. I would drive down to the barn and turn on the hot water to melt the snow in the yard. Worked great
