The Absorber on its own is probably OK. What is of concern is its inability to HIDE anything that MIGHT scratch your surface. Being as it does not have any "pockets", like a waffle weave, theres no where for any foreign debris to collect and call home while your wiping away. Now your probably asking, "How could that be a concern, I just washed my car?"
Are you certain its 100% debris free? The waffle weave just affords you an extra amount of risk taking, all the while, its a great absorber, doesnt scratch, durable, economical and available almost everywhere an Absorber" is.....I would think once you tried one, you would wonder why you waited.......
I like to follow up with an "associate" towel (smaller waffle weave), just as you do with the Absorber and microfiber.

No, it's not supposed to scratch and haven't heard of anyone with that complaint. It's a synthetic chamois better than towels. The folks who use the Absorber have a high regard for it. As for myself, my choice for drying is a 24 x 30 MF WW.

maybe you should use it for windows and to "blot" the paint surfaces, and then follow up with the MF

If it's clean (don't laugh...I've seen filthy ones) I'd say you're fine. As long as you have some life left to your topcoat, the best way to dry your car is to start with the final rinse - remove the nozzle and just use a very gentle spray from the hose. The water will simply 'sheet' and will flow right off the horizontal surfaces. This makes a waffle weave - which granted is much less absorbant than an Absorber - much easier to use.

I use a california blade and vroom's absorber (which has a waffle texture) and I've been pretty happy with the results.

I've used the Absorber on my car for years and never had problems with scratching. But like everyone said, if the Absorber or the car isn't clean, it's gonna scratch.

I've used the absorber since I bought my TSX. No scratching. But, yea, if there's anything foreign on the fabric than you are F$%R$D. I do touch ups with a microfibre towel - just chrome and things like that. I wash it with a touch of laundry detergent, I rinse the hell out of it and then I rinse in again with a bit of fabric softener. The absorber comes out soft and silky. But, it takes longer to dry your vehicle than a towel which wipes all the water, but I find towels could scratch if you are not perfect with your touch.

I'm not so sure the fabric softener rinse is the best idea. Fabric softener is essentially a wax liquid . .this liquid, if I understand it correctly would actually inhibit it's ability to pick up water.

Try it without softener next time and see if you get better absobtion.

Yeah, the fabric softener will repel water and make it much less absorbent
