I only do the wash/wax if I know that I will get it in the garage before it rains.

Otherwise I wait until another day.

We started with the friggin' water bans again here. If I wash I have to do it before 10am or after 10pm! This sux...I'd have the car washed at CarNets or something, but then I'd have to drive it home to wax it and it'd be dirty again!!! Argghh!!!

I guess I suffer from OCD. I wash my cars at least once a week and wax it monthly. The washes are rain or shine and I wax it even though I know it's going to rain. --=Keith

I wax my car no matter what. Rain or shine, the paint still needs to be protected. Kind of a bummer if it rains, but at least the water beads up nice and regular waxing makes getting it clean again very easy.

When I lived in a climate where it rained more than 10 days a year I used to do that. It's inevitable. It'll rain eventually, so who cares when? And like someone else said, the car still needs to be protected.

But now, I don't wash it if there's rain forecasted any time in the next week which is pretty rare.

Look at it this way: If it is about to rain, and your car is all dusty, it will come out looking terrible after the rain. If you wash your car before it rains, you will get rid of all the dust, and there will be nothing to leave those dust/dirt spots.

More than once, it began to rain as I was washing my car. Also, it begins to rain as I am drying the car. Kinda frustrating, but my car is always still clean after the rain.

BTW, Keith, please fix your sig.

I don't know where you live. Here is Los Angeles, the rain is so dirty, that the few times I've done a car wash (especially for my wife's car) before a rain, the car ends up looking like "spot monster". It is a complete waste of time.

If you live in a polluted area with lots of dirty rain, and black dust in the air, forget about it...
