Distilled water for carwashes?
Would distilled water create water spots? I have an idea for washing my car. I was thinking I could invest a couple bucks (per warsh) and get 2 gallons of arrowhead distilled water. Could that water not be used to sheet off all the water that was used to wash the car initially? I mean you could treat it like a water hose. Just lightly pour the water as you would with a hose. Chances are 1 gallon would probably even be enough. My understanding is that distilled water is just flat H2O, no additives or flavoring or anything like that. All that crap was left out already and/or removed.
anyone try this yet?

so nobody knows if sheeting off with distilled water will keep water spots from forming? I know I am not the first person to think of this and I am sure someone has tried this already.

But can you prevent them from forming, while washing? Rinsing is the final step. Distilled water would certainly help during the rinse, provided they havent formed before then. Consider washing, rinsing, and drying from the top, down. You may also want to consider NRWS from Optimum. NRWS helps condition the water as well.
To answer your question though, distilled water would help. All the minerals and contaminants have been removed through the distillation/boiling stage.

At my daughters house they have very hard water and I could wash my black Passat in the sun and still not get them.
You have to keep the car wet while washing then use the 2 WW towel method to dry ..
I think I explained it somewhere here before.

I just recently ordered NRWS from Patrick. I was very impressed with how well the product worked. Very easy to use. So like Patrick is suggesting wash the car, and then maybe finish off with a quick rinse of the NRWS. You won't be sorry. Amazing product. I'm glad I finally got around to getting some.

You could always do an ONR wash and not have to worry about water spotting. It's either that or if you enjoy traditional washing, you can invest in a CRSpotless and never have to worry about water spotting.

wait, why would distilled water leave spots.
it's pure water, which means 100% of it will evaporate into steam leaving nothing behind. only tap water with minerals in them should leave marks.
what am i missing?
