Disinfecting Car Interior?
Disinfecting Car Interior?
Hi Guys,
I just cleaned out my whole car, since I had a bunch of random junk all over my seats. I must say it feels a whole lot better to have absolutely nothing inside of the actual car, other than the center console, and a few things in the trunk. I love the look of the bare interior with nothing on the seats at all. I made a pledge to myself that I will always keep the inside of the car completely bare, it just feels much better.
Anyways, I was wondering if there was any way to disinfect the inside of the car? I know there's tons of different ways (and products) to do, but I'd like to make sure I don't harm any of the fabrics.
So far I was thinking...
Lysol Spray for the Carpets (quick spray down)
I wasn't sure what to use for the door handle, and buttons in the front of the car. Window buttons, etc. I was thinking a Lysol/Chlorox wipe, although wasn't sure if these were too harsh for the plastics?
I also wanted to know what I could use for the actual leather seats. I know they have leather cleaner, but wasn't sure if it was an actual disinfectant? Is there any wipes/sprays that are safe on leather?
Lastly, is there anything to use on the outside of the car on painted surfaces? For example a door handle? Might be extreme, but I figure it doesn't hurt to do once every few weeks?
Thanks!

Diluted wool lite and use steam. Lots of steam all over the car. Kills something for sure cause that's how I clean a smoker's car. Especially the roof lining. That's where everything lives, grows and plot's for a better future.
Kill it with STEAM!

Its a fair question if you've watched that episode Top Gear did with how dirty the used car can be. Especially the one that had some fecal matter on the seats. Weird.
Anyways for outside and inside use steam if its a question about killing any bacteria. DO NOT SCRUB ANYTHING ON THE OUTSIDE. Steam does not have enough lubricity to prevent your paint from getting scratched.
Beyond that just cleaning the car is fine. I still haven't used steam on mine so far. Just don't over do it. Its a question of hitting the key areas.
For example don't soak the headliner in the name of killing everything. The headliner should be kept as dry as possible. Same goes for seat cushions.
Then leave some dryer sheets under the carpet of your car to give it a nice smell on those warm days.
