Let this be a lesson for all... do NOT run your cars thru an automatic car wash!!!!! Those brushes are killer!!!!

Thanks.

I learned that black cars suck a$$... AND I learned the full extent of the damage auto washes can cause.

Oh... Menz SIP dusts soooo much less than M105. I think I'm gonna start using SIP instead of M105 from now on.

Haha...good to know, thanks for the feedback.

I've used the SIP but not the M105.

Aint that the truth, theres always something new to learn with every detail. Nice recovery on that dark IS!
Have any of you Menz users experienced defect returns on any paint youve done? If read before that Menz does hide defects a little?

^ Thanks Patrick. Its actually a GS

I noticed that SIP seemed to have a lot more or thicker polishing oil versus M105. I guess this is good since the work time is longer but then you have to make sure all the residual oils are removed. I needed 2 IPA wipedowns between SIP and M205. I love how the Megs polishes leave a squeaky clean finish... but IMO less dusting trumps oily residue.

Nice work! From the 50/50 shots it looks like you got a pretty good rate of correction there. Yes, black cars are a pain to work with...I had a run of about 6 straight here recently. They demand perfection in your techniques that's for sure.

For the Megs 105, you'll find that it dusts much less if you properly prime the pad and clean it after each panel. It has so much more cut than SIP though, so you really can't compare the two since one is a very heavy cut compound and the other is a medium cut.

When used properly, Menzerna polishes have no more filling capacity than other popular polishes on the market (and less than others). IPA wipedowns and sun inspections FTW.

Todd, thanks. Your work is impeccable. I've been speaking to Ivan a lot lately and he's been pretty helpful.

I normally change or wash pads after 2-3 panels... not to minimize dusting though. The pads just don't seem to cut as much when they are over saturated with polish. I might go back to M105 (ran out) after this quart of SIP is done. We'll see.

Since I'm mobile, I only have a set amount of hours I can spend on one car. I would love to do the kind of details you do but without a garage or a space to work in, its just not possible. I know its not very OCD-like and probably blasphemous in the detailing world but I shoot for 90+% correction in ~8 hours (including interior).

Great work

What size pads do you use on the mirrors? 5.5 or the 4?

Thanks.

4" on the mirrors, b-pillars and parts of the trunk (typically).

Nice job.

Don't compare SIP to 105 though. 105 is much more aggressive. While SIP has great cut, it can only do so much. Especially via PC, which I assume is what you're using.
