Confused about layering of wax/sealant

I have NXT wax and Klasse sealant... is the right order a layer of NXT before the sealant? Should I do multiple layers of the wax, or just the sealant? Or both?

Thanks.

Penguin, there both sealants. NXT has a small amount of cleaning ability, which disables it as a layerable product (sealant). When you reference "Klasse", I assume your speaking of SG. As AIO isnt layerable either. If you wish to use either as a sealant, as with either product, you need to prep the surface, dont rely on NXT to do that, and I wouldnt put the SG over the NXT either, you may suffer proper adhesion, and durability.
Welcome aboard also.....

Ah i was unaware that NXT was a sealant. How do I go about prepping the surface? The only thing I do before waxing is washing and claying... the paint usually feels smooth after I clay, and one coat of wax has always given me that smooth slippery feeling where the paint feels like glass.

Klasse AIO is a good cleaner. It'll remove the Klasse SG that you may of put on earlier, so make sure to wax it afterwards.

I've always had the notion that once I clayed the car, the clearcoat is "bare" and unprotected, since I just removed any previous traces of any waxes that have accumulated. The shiny, clean surface is just that, because most of the dirt and contaminants have been removed.

Exceldetail has helped a lot about making me realize how important a layer(s) of sealant is on applied to the clearcoat prior to waxing (as to using an actual wax).

Wax by itself (even cleaner waxes) are sacrificial. Meaning once the wax have worn off then the finish is as good as unprotected. IMO a properly cleaned finish that has been clayed and chemically cleaned (like using Klasse AIO) needs to be "sealed" by a product like Klasse SG, Meg's #20 or even NXT Tech Wax. Wax in turn can be applied to a properly bonded and layered sealant to give an even better protection than just what the sealant provides by itself.

My "combo" after claying is Klasse AIO/ SG then P21S/ S100 and the shine/ protection is phenomenal. I think I'll stick with this one for a while.

A good article about a sealant as well as a good description of how auto paint is layered can be found here.

Though instead of Klasse, I use Zaino. I just recenlty started using S100. Great product and the durability is fantastic. I used it about a month and a half ago and my TSX still feels slick.

I think I might try Klasse here pretty soon. Im due for my 6 month detail...

I usually do Clay, Meg's 80, NXT (x2...apparently it's layerable), Megs #16. Meg's DACP before 80 if it's really needed.
