Cleaning Techniques for My 08 WDP

I just bought my 08 WDP almost a month ago, and everything is great! Although, when I come to wash it, I catch myself in a challenging situation. There are these small spot bird $hits from parking my car at work. I use one of those soft washing gloves with Meguirs car wash liquid. When I scrub the bird $hit, it takes a WHOLE lot of effort. I mean, I am scrubbing for a good minute or so to completely remove al of the residue. Can anyone recommend a spray solvent for these types of situations?

I have a feeling I'm eating into the paint when I'm scrubbing this hard, and it's still too early in the stage. I just bought the thing!! What should I do to help get rid of that do-do? Thanks.

Apply a coat of wax, and keep it waxed. Makes removal quite easy.

moved to wash and wax.

Your best bet with bugs and bird poo is to take a towel, soak it with warm water, then put it on the bird poo/bugs and let it soak into it. This way it will saturate and easily come off without scratching the paint.

Once you do that, clean with a good wash mitt and soap, and then wax.

As an adder to the above .. keep a soft Microfiber towel in the trunk along with a bottle of QD spray .. when the sh*t hits the car... spritz it with the QD and wipe gently with the towel. Bird poop can be very acidic and will eat into ( etch) the clear coat laving a mark that will need to be buffed out if it can be removed at all.

Hard rubbing on dried poop will cause marring .. it can have grit in it .. read up on bird digestive systems.

+1 on the MF towel. What is QD? Who makes it? Do you think it's already time for a wax? Suggestions on wax products?

QD = Quick Detail spray available at WalMart etc ..

You can wax now .. new cars can be waxed the day you pick them up ..

As for wax products .. I don't recommend the OTC stuff as its not that great .. Exceldetail.com sells Duragloss #105 and its great .. Some CarQuest stores carry it too. Also claybar the car first . The link I posted above is good reading.

Waxing after the fact is just closing the barn door after the horse is gone. In fact wax/sealants offer very little protection from all but the mildest least acidic bird poops. I have had 11 coats of Klasse SG on my car and a bird poop etched in the 6 minutes it took to get home to wipe it . Other times 6 hours was fine.

The key is the time frame you take it off in.

Actually, Meguiar's #26 and Meg's NXT 2.0 aren't all that bad for OTC. Of course, that's just my opinion.

No your right ... And I still use the #26 .. the NXT 2.0 is good too but to me a little pricey in reality for what you get .. now if it was $8 a bottle it would be great .. but I guess they need to pay for that pretty box somehow.
