Cleaning the door jambs and sills

I have noticed with most peoples cars the door jambs are dirty and look like they have never been cleaned. I on the other hand clean mine every time I wash the car and I wax them as well. I have even used the clay bar on them. I was wondering if other people wax their door jambs? Or am I just a little too anal about my car.

Mike

I just do a ONR wipedown every wash. It gets pretty dirty there esp. if it rains.
On a good day I'll spray wax the main areas too, but most of the time just ONR.. never have i clayed it though lol

quick shot of ONR and a wipedown... i usually have the run marks from dirt and rain that get in there... another good spot to check is the water channels for the trunk lid... i get tons of crud in there...

While you're back there open/close your trunk a few times to get all the water from behind the license plate out (unless you remove the license plate for washs - but i usually don't for my maintainence washs)

I also clean and wax the water channels in the trunk as well as under the hood.

The DJ's, trunk and hood rails are the last thing I dry, so I apply QD and hit it.....
If they are beyond a QD and need cleaning, I use the 1 Gal sprayer to flush and wash.

I clean 'em, but spray wax is an excellent suggestion. Thanks.

Door Jambs

1.Use P21S Total Auto Wash, dilute the cleaner as necessary, using a damp micro fibre towel go over the door jamb.
2.Take a Swissvax Detail Brush and ensure that you have got into the corners, just lightly brush over it a couple of times.
3.Rinse it off using a wet microfiber towel, and dry thoroughly
4.Use a Carnauba wax or a spray polymer sealant Zanio Z-8 for protection
5.Repeat this process on the other side and carry on detailing the rest of your car
6.Check the hinge / latch lubrication, renew with silicone as necessary
7.Remove dust / dirt from the rubber sleeves and apply Iz einszett Vinyl-Rubber Care'
8.While you are doing this part of the job, also clean the area around the boot lid, hood, and inside the fuel filler flap and access area
9.Don’t forget the door sills / kick plates; once clean and dry, they should be protected by applying a surface dressing to vinyl surfaces and either wax or sealant protection to painted surfaces.

I usually just wipe it dry after I'm drying the rest of the car. QD sounds like a good idea though.
