If your talking about the surface rust on the rotors, that's normal. It should come off whenever you brake. As far a general cleaning of your brakes I just spray everything with a good brake cleaner spray. It evaporates very quickly to leave no residue.

Well i just have the problem on my black rims with a chrome lip, that the orange/brown debri gets on the lip and collects there, is there anything to keep the debri on the brake or off my rims?

Have you waxed your rims? That will help make them easier to clean.

spray some quick detailer spray on the rims, this should reduce the accumulation on the rims.

I have a similar issue so I thought I'd share. The problem I face is a small pocket between the wheel and the hub which collects water and is causing rust on the hub. If i let the car sit a day or two or week after a wash then go to drive it, the rusty water in the pocket is slung all over the wheels and some gets on the car too.

I thought about plugging the holes in the wheels with silicone to stop it but i've decided against that. I plan on sanding the hubs and painting them and possibly painting the "pockets" on the wheels as well. Still haven't decided on that yet. I've found the rust that appears in the pockets will wash out so paint may not be needed. I'm going to start with painting the hubs and see how it goes.

Waxing as using wax per se: carnauba wax will not provide a long-term protection for the rims. Carnauba wax WILL melt once the rims reach high temps which is often. Use a sealant like Klasse or a dedicated wheel sealant like Poorboy's Wheel Sealant since sealants bond to the paint and won't melt off like 'nuba does.

Rotors are bare metal so rusting is inevitable. Just make sure to paint the rotor edge (vent side) and the 'hub' once per year. I do it everytime I slap the summer rims back on. Just get handy with some high temp caliper paint and small brushes. With Acura rotors, you won't need to do it on the same rotor more than twice since the rotors will more than likely warp in a year or so. (you'll end up with new rotors anyway).

Best cheap effective product for wheels is Nu-Finish liquid.

RZA.. I had the same rust issue as you and I just siliconed the holes over from the inside and then painted the "hat" portion of the rotor and the edge with silver brake paint to stop the rust.

I just use Rustoleum Aluminum (silver) on the hub and calipers every spring and it works fine.

Argh!! So true! I just replaced my rotors and pads last weekend (Powerslot/Hawk Ceramic) I hated to toss the pads which had sooo much life left on them...

They are referring to the "hub" section of the rotor, not the surface braking area just the area where the bolts come through. I painted mine when I painted my calipers...........

I can't seem to find the DIY with photos on this site. Here is a link from another site with a good method of painting rotors. (Except for the part where he actually sprayed the whole disc.) You don't really have to remove the rotors to do them. Make a cardboard cutout of the hat so you would mask the rotor surface (area where brake pads touch.). For me, I found it easier and faster to do it with brushes and it's less messy without worrying about over spray on your paint finish. Prepping with BrakeKleen and using a steel brush is definitely helpful.
