Claying Only For Amateurs?

I just got off of the phone with a "detailer". I inquired about a detailing job and whether he "clays" or not. He said that clay-barring is for amateurs who don't know how to use DA's/rotaries properly.

His reasoning was that the "buffer" that he uses to prep the paint before waxing is able to heat up the paint's surface better than a typical wash/clay, therefore opening up the pores in the paint better for the wax in the next step to fill-in.

I've never heard of this before.

Thoughts/ideas?

Call another detailer.....what a fool....
Let me see, washing and claying cool a car, using a Rotary heats the surface. Nice comparison.

Also, since I don't want to make another thread, I'd like everyone's opinion on post #14 from this thread:

He probably thinks buffer trails and holograms is considered "...opening up the pores in the paint better for the wax in the next step to fill-in."

notice the words he used
"next step to fill-in"

so i guess his steps are

wash(maybe, buffer will take all dirt off)
clay bar (not for professionals)
cleaner wax (probably rotary, will take faster with 10" wool pad)
GLAZEEEEEEEEE IT
wax (where is that 10" wool pad again?)

surprised he doesnt have something that does everything in one step

did wash and wax on my dads crv today, used sonus superfine clay, it had a lot of stuff on it. put collonite 845 on one half of hood and fender and collonite 915 on other half of hood and fender, 845 on rest of the car, lets see which will last longer (i know 845 is kinda sealant but still)
