Claying the clear lenses over the head lights

I believe folks apply Zaino to the head lamps. Has anyone clayed the head lamps? Does it negatively affect the clear plastic? It is worth while or necessary?

I've been driving the car for a week and a half waiting for the weather and time to start the Zaino regiment. The head lights have all kinda crap on them and I wonder if the clay would remove contaminents that the dawn wash will not.

i dont think you should do it, 2 reasons
1. clay is realy plastic- head lights plastic i am sure the plastic in the headlights is softer then the paint on the car
2. i am almost positive that b/c of above it will haze

I clayed the head lights and it removed the the specks of bugs, etc that washing did not. And there was no damage to the plastic, well at least none that I can see.

lenses

I detail for a living and claying your lenses is perfectly safe. Sometimes on older vehicles the lenses turn yellowish and dull out so I hit them with a lttle bit of compound and some polish and they come out 100% better. If you have access to a high speed buffer than that will work even better. I always throw a coat of wax over my lenses when I wax my car. It makes it so the bugs come off easier and shines them up nice too.
