Clayed a part of the car...streaks?
Hey guys. I tried to get parts of the water spots off one spot of my car on the hood by claying. After I clayed, the quick detailer (Mother's) seemed to dull the paint with streaks after drying. I topped it off with Optimum Car Wax and there will more streaks. I then put another OCW on it and it looked a little better (probably because I applied it evenly this time) but some streaks still remain. Wil these streaks dry off over time?
Thanks

They might not just go away, you may want to try and remove them. I have seen streaks while claying if there is not enough lube for the clay. You may want to try and wash and see if that helps. Maybe more QD?
Also, the Optimum Car Wax (or any wax/sealant) shouldn't be used to try and remove any streaks/imperfections. You would be better off applying it on a clean streak free surface so it can do its job better to protect your paint.

Clay isn't effective on water spots .. use a good cleaner wax or a polish .. or even white vinegar and let it linger a bit.
I have clayed prolly 300 cars and don't have streaking.

is there anything i can do with the hazing after using ScratchX 2.0? Here's a pic of the hazing.
is this hazing supposed to happen? When I clay barred my car 2 months ago (with Meguiar's Clay), I noticed that there were water spots I could not get rid of. People suggested that I purchase Meguiar's ScratchX 2.0 to get rid of these water spots. So, I went ahead and bought myself a bottle and used a Pinnacle yellow foam pad to apply it on 3 small sections of my car's hood. This is the unfortunate result...I believe it's called hazing?
how should i apply the white vinegar if i wanted to try that?

As with a lot of your other threads your bringing 2 different issues into the same thread.
1) Streaking from claying.
2) hazing from ScratchX.
What are we talking about here?

thanks, jess. so according to the people on autogeek, they say that it's common that scratch X 2.0 did that. i just used it incorrectly. i was supposed to work the product until the opaque-ness of the product became a clearish film. i did not do that, which meant that the product dried on it. they suggested i wipe the area with 10% IPA/water dilution and then use Meguiar's Ultimate Polish.
