Stay away from the clay bars on Ebay.......
Most are nearly identical, although there are variations. Use a renowned web site, or word of mouth when selecting....If you decide to shop online, give me a shout.

how do you know when it is time to get a new clay bar? How often should you be getting some? I noticed you have a fine clay bar on your site and a medium grade one I think? Care to explain when u use either?

I would just use the clay bar that came with my mothers kit...

I use Meg's. It's OTC and it comes in two (just like Mothers)

When is it time to get a new clay bar? It's use once and throw away. It is highly discourage from reusing clay bars.

I cut the bars in 1/3rds and use a 1/3rd at a time .. once it becomes discolored I discard. You can get many cars out of a bar if used right and kneeded.

Mistake people make is using it for the wrong thing like tar removal. This contaminates the bar with sand. If I have tar etc I use solvent to dissolve and remove before claying. Tar/sap etc can be removed al lot easier with the proper stuff and comes off faster too.

Clay for environmental contaminats and rail dust.

The more aggressive bars are for the more sever cleanings. Light bars are for maintenance needs, medium for more neglected paint. As with Dale, when it becomes discolored, use it on glass or wheels, or simply toss......

The best OTC claybar is Clay Magic Blue, cut it into 1/3rds or 1/2s and kneed it when it gets dirty. When you can no longer turn up a clean side, toss it or save it for use on wheels or some other job for a crap claybar.

Well, you obviously don't have any credibility. Your car looks like a piece of crap...

just kidding :gheywave:

I like Meg's clay kit best. Although, I admit that as they start to get contaminated they fall apart.

I've always had a question regarding this step... If you park the car in a garage and leave it over night, won't it collect some dust despite being indoors? Maybe I'm just overly cautious but I'm a bit hesitant to apply a second coat of product on a potentially dusty car. Do you guys ever have problems with dust collecting over night and causing marring when applying a second coat of sealant/wax?

It would totally depend on the garage and the activity in the garage and the surrounding area, ambient conditions and wind .. etc.

Hmm, technically it will collect dust. But the difference of it being in the garage compared to parking outdoor is a HUGE difference. I've waxed my car plenty of times and park it outside, just to walk out in the morning seeing dust already. Parking in the garage allows absolutely no wind so the dust being dropped on the car is so minimal that I don't believe it will cause swirls.

I don't think you should worry about that much dust collecting just overnight. I don't even think you can see the dust.

Also to be extra cautious couldn't you wash before applying another layer of UPP after the 24hrs? Maybe just a quick ONR wipe down?

On something thats been garaged? I wouldnt worry about it. Quick inspection, maybe a dampened MF for horizontals, and thats it.
One reason I love Acurazine Wash and Wax, is its NOT Autopia!
