Car washing with nosemask on

I have left it on for the last couple of weeks, due to traveling. I don't think I am hurting anything by leaving it on while washing the car.
Anyone care to agree or disagree ?

i've seen rain do bad things to a car when the nose bra is left on. I've seen it cause paint to start to bubble and do funny things cause it traps moisture in. I've also seen taking it off and leaving the car in the sun cure these things though.

I have also heard that it isn't good to leave the mask on if water has been trapped in there, ie. rain.

ok so like it wil be on the car a total of a month, I really do not see any harm coming from this. It's just it's so damn time consuming to put on and take off.
Like I said, its not like the car is living out the rest of it's days with the damn muzzle on it, just for about 2 more weeks.

I've seen it cause damage to the paint in a matter of a day or two from the moisture being inside.

I had my nose mask on for a 10 day road trip. We went through a torrentail down pour, and I washed the car twice while on the road, never taking the bra off until we got home. As you can see, I didn't have any problems...

Could that picture BE any farther away. How are we supposed to tell if there is any damage?

Chopper, you obviously want to keep the bra on the car. So do it. We're trying to tell you that it could cause problems.

It may depend on how you waxed your car before putting it on. I myself did not wax mine before the nose mask. I only put the mask on for road trips between cities in texas (although roads are damn nice the bugs are damn horrible). I definitely could tell where the edge of mask was at on both of the quarter panels and on the hood. I think I might have faired better with a wax previous to the mask.

I would NEVER wash the car with the mask on. Did that with a previous car and there was serious discoloration.

As long as the car doesn't sit for weeks you will be fine. If your driving it & it rains, or you wash it but still are driving it, you shouldn't see a problem. I use the bra when I drive up to NYC(1200 miles 1 way) & wash teh car when I get there to clean all the bugs off, & leave the bra on just cause it's a PITA to take off & put back on. I did this 3 times on the 02 I had, & 2 times on the 03 & haven't had a single problem. Also did this on a 300M I had about 6 times, also didn't have any problems.

Had a nose mask on a Maxima and left it in the rain for 1 day. After it dried and about a day or two later, when I took off the mask, I had some bad paint discoloration and fading. Seems like moisture was trapped into the paint and I couldn't get it off. But then again, maybe the Acura masks breathe a lot better and the paint on our cars is better (not likely though). I personally wouldn't leave the mask when it's wet. Or if you're driving and it rains, I wouldn't leave the car to dry with the mask on.

Well, too many ups and downs here. I'll go ahead and take it off until I'm ready for the next road trip. BL^5, my car car has > 5 coats of wax on it, so this should not be an issue for me, and as a matter of fact, I put two new coats on before putting the bra on.

Anyway after 3 weeks, and 3 washes later, I'll report my results.

This is for the FACTORY ACURA car bra.

- Well, you would want to wash the bra because it gets dirty, both bugs, dust, and road junk... Have you ever had one Baller?

- It is NOT pure leather, don't know where you read that (it is vinyl)

- And you CAN leave the bra on when washing the car, and after rain. I would recommend taking the hood piece off with every wash, just so the front lip does not stretch. If water sits in the front lip it can stretch over time (my last car bra did that).

- I have left my lower bumper piece of the bra on the car for over a month at a time, NO PROBLEMS. AND I WASH MY CAR WITH THE BRA ON ALMOST EVERY WASH so I can clean it, then remove it to dry completely, and wash the paint the bra covered.

- Whenever I remove the bra, I make sure to spray the underside of the vinyl to remove any debrit.

That's it!! It is very easy to clean and use, and it protects the car a heck of alot. People can back into me, and other things can hit the front without causing any damage to the paint, something even 3M Scotchcal can't do. (I think 3M Scotchcal is pretty good stuff if professionally installed BTW.
