Car Wash Nightmare :(
So a couple of weeks ago, I was late to a drive and decided to run the Vette through an automatic, touchless, car wash that was recommended to me by a few other Vette owners (I know, first mistake, but, I made it and need to fix it now, so no no flaming).
So here is the skinny. I was in it and it died half way through the soap cycle. I drove like a bat out of hell to the nearest hose to get the soap off fast. However, I was too late. It has been two weeks now, 4 car HAND car washes later, and two wax jobs, and I cannot get the soap-scum off. :wtf:
I have already talked to the owner of the car wash and he has agreed to pay for whatever it takes to get it right, I just need to know what to do now.
HELP!!

Go find a body shop and have them wipe the car down with PrepSolv. It'll strip everything and you can start over again with wax/polish.
I would also recommend something like Eimann Fabrik High Intensity Cleaner. It strips grease, soap, wax.... very well.

P.S. Wax won't do a thing in cleaning the paint - it is a protectant. So don't expect the 'wax job' to help in this case....wax AFTER you've got the car clean. If you've applied wax on top of the soap scum, you've just sealed it in. You must strip the wax. You're only cleaning the surface above the layer of protection with wax on there.

I'm just hoping that you did not put a layer of wax/polish over the "problem" 'coz it probably "sealed" it in and made it even more difficult to remove.
I have heard the chemicals they use on these car washes especially the "no-touch" ones are pretty strong stuff (that's why they don't need brushes), so if it dries on the clearcoat, it could have etched it like acid rain would.

Needs more Lemon Pledge
Find a high end dealership (BMW, JAG, etc...) and ask the service guy where they would reccomend sending a car for detailing. Then ask them for a card for the place. Most likely, they will give you the card they give out at the service desk, which also happens to usually be a 20% off coupon. I know someone else is paying for this, but less $$ is easier to pass off as acceptable, and no sense not getting a freebee from a BMW dealership!!

Go to autopia.org, there are some detailers in Texas that really know their stuff. They work on high-end cars and you can see their prior results in the click-and-brag section.
IMO guys from TX on autopia (their screename) that know their stuff, theres others also that others can recommend:

Thanks for the recomendations guys. I actually have a guy that works on Ferrari's, Lotus's, and the like. He does an AMAZING job. But, he is not cheap. I will have to call him and see what he thinks.
