Car Vacuum
Car Vacuum
Can anyone recommend a compact but powerful vacuum cleaner to use on my TLs and to keep in the garage?? I have a big shop vac that will suck paint off a bumper but the problem is that it blows dust out of the vacuum exaust and it doesn't take much dust to screw up a freshly washed NBP. Thanks.......
I actually use a 6.5 hp shop vac with a filter on the exhaust part (so it doesn't blow anything out).. I also ALWAYS clean the interior before the exterior so I don't have to worry about dust, or dragging a potentially dirty hose over the sills, etc...
I couldn't see myself using anything other that a powerful shop vac for that purpose. Maybe you could simply reverse the order in which you clean the car... or upgrade the shop vac to one with an exhaust filter.
I use mine more in my workshop than on the cars, so I deal with a lot of fine dust particles (I make a lot of fine furniture in my spare time - gets me away from the laptops and technology in general).... and if that nasty stuff doesn't blow out the back, nothing you suck up from the car will either.
BTW - My 3G is also NBP, so I know the perils of dust after a day of detailing..
Good luck and report back if you find something else you like which you think others here could benefit from using.

I use the real small shopvac. I have been using it for years and it works perfect. Think it was $20-$30. I actually thought about getting the new one that mounts to the wall for my garage but couldn,t justify spending the money when my small one works perfect and is super easy to store.
Resurrected.............

Take a look at the Metro vacuum's. They are ultra portable, very powerful and come with a lot of attachments to make them very useful to detailers.
The Metro Vac 'n Blo also doubles up as a blower, so you can easily dry hard to reach areas of your car, such as around trim, between door panels, lug nuts, rivets, in the engine bay and in the interior where it's helpful moving dust and debris from hard to reach areas. It made a 95" water lift, despite being so compact.

There's also the Metro Vac 'n Go, which is ultra compact and lightweight, perfect for quick clean ups of your interior. There's no blower on this unit, but it still has tremendous sucking power.

I use this and it works great! It comes with 3 attachments, and it has a blower feature as well. Small and compact, yet somewhat powerful.
