Question Can't remove tree sap >=[

Hey guys, my wife and I purchased an 02 4runner for my sister in law, its an awesome truck however the hood is covered in sap I presume. I tried claybarring it, waxing it, nothing. Is there a product I can try? Or just cut my losses and pick up another hood? I'll try to post a pic this evening when I get home.

Neither clay bar or wax work on sap.

Depending on the sap I'd try Rubbing Alcohol, saturate a rag and place it on the sap .. if its a dried blob then saturate for a bit then carefilly scratch the top of the blob with your fingernail then more alcohol.

Send try terpintine... same proceedure ..

Both are clear safe.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I use 70% IPA and some patience although in extreme situations, a plastic razor blade may be a good bet, too so long as you're careful.

i have a black type s and had the sap issue many times this summer and last. use the alcohol or nail polish remover on the corner of a rag(with a lilttle elbow grease)... youll be good....dont let it sit.. youll regret doing it yourself.

Nail polish remover is not clear coat friendly especially if its acetone based.

This is good advice (don't use acetone (nail polish remover)

A bug and tar remover may work since it is pretty good at removing dried bug splat.

At the dealership I work at we have this as a reoccurring problem with our vehicles in the spring time.

We us a product called Fabric Foam. It literally eats the sap right off the clear coat of the vehicle, but is still clear coat safe! It also works great on rail dust and fallout.

Otherwise we use extremely hot water, almost boiling (from the coffee maker). Never have had any paint issues with this method either. This way takes a bit longer but it still works.
