A/C Air Vent Foul-ness (Odor)

I noticed that the air coming from my A/C system has become less than "so fresh and so clean, clean." The service guy was like "'YO!' You've gotta clean that shizzle out, fool."

So in line with his instructions, I put the A/C on high and sprayed Lysol (no scent) into the intake vents by the windshield.

My question is, the explaination that was given to me was that since I use the 'recycle air' function all the time, it's a perfect breeding ground for bacteria to grow.

Shouldn't I be spraying air through the recycle air passages too?

If so, where is the air intake for the recycled air.

"Fo Shizzle" bonics added for flair.

check your manual, it has the airflow for the car (input and output). just find the a/c section of the manual, it will be there. i think i gota do that too, my air is beyond the "not so fresh" it kinda smells now. how much did he tell you to spray in?

Try "OZONE" in a blue spray can in PepBoys. Gets rid of most smells & doesn't leave any perfumes/scents.

or you could go and have your car get the "ozone" treatment at a car wash....they have a machine that will kill all the bacteria, even deep down in the a/c duct...it takes about 40 min...worth asking about

Do you have more information about this product? I saw this thing called OZIUM, and they had a few different scents (one of them being in a blue spray can), but I didn't see anything called Ozone. Which aisle would this be in? I looked in both the wax/detailing secton, and the air freshner section.

They had something called Odor Gun. Any experience with that anyone?

Thanks!

Ozium is correct.

Works great. Make sure you give it time to work though. For instance, spray it in the car in the evening & let it work overnight. Usually has a slight Lysol odor at first, but goes away very shortly. I bought a used car that someone smoked in & it helped tremendously.

What ever you use DON'T USE OZONE. A friend, stupid, used an ozone generator to remove the foul smell from his Honda. What he failed was high school physics. Ozone rots rubber and the belts on the tape player and CD and all the insulation in his heating ducts etc have rotted and is going to cost BIG bucks to replace.
Enough said. I'll bet he wishes he had paid attention in high school

I did originaly mean "Ozium"... I don't think he's referring to what we are discussing.

Works great though.
