Buffer help!....

Buffer help!....

My buddy let me borrow his 9227c Makita buffer.
According to their website, it's a 7".. I looked on excels site and they dont carry a 7" pad.
Is it an odd size?

It really depends on what backing plate you're using. With the Makita, you're able to use many different size backing plates. Patrick offers a backing plate for the Makita I believe.

i would be very careful with that thing, you can do serious damage to your paint if you dont know what you are doing....

that's the general consensus....
I'm doing as much reading as possible so that I dont F my paint..
I'm going to practice on the hood of my accord before I do anything on my civic...and I'm def NOT gonna touch the Beemer with this thing! haha

You just need to get hours under your belt and feel comfortable to taking it to your car's paint. To be quite honest, I took my first experience with the rotary on my own vehicle but then I've had 3+ years of experience with my PC so I definitely had the right mindset in respecting orbital machines.

If you are in fact going to use the Makita, try to stick with the smaller pads so they're easier to work with and less prone to making a mistake. Be careful, read up on how to use the rotary, watch YouTube videos extensively, and respect the machine, hehe.
