Bought a Porter Cable

I got the 7336 through the Lowes 20% all power tools for $80. I couldn't pass it by. I got all the products I could ever use, now I need to order some sort of a polishing backing plate and some foam pads. Anything else I need to get crackin with the 7336.

Any suggestions?

How does the 7336 differ from the 7424? Same tool just different backing plate?

Can the Sonüs DAS kit be used with the weight included, or will I need a different one?

Some #83 and my life will be complete.

#83 and #80 and your life is done

I read a lot of different things, but the conclusion i've come down to is there really isn't much of a difference between the weights. Some say you get more vibration w/ one, some say the other. I haven't tried both, but most that have side by side say it doesn't matter.

The PC is the best detailing tool you can buy....now you have to find a combo of product that gives you the results you are looking for. I like Megs #9 followed by Clearkote Vanilla Moose....Topped with Poorboys Natty Wax.....

I hear you, my gameplan is to use some clay, P21s paint cleansing lotion, #80, and then top it off with s100. I've gotten a bunch of other Wolfgang products that I haven't had a chance to use yet.

But since I have to drive my car in winter I have sealed it over twice with Collinite 476. I might add some sort of topper wax soon.

Do i have to register to see ur pics?

Just got the PC 7336 SP (sander/polisher) for Christmas. It came with a pad for sanding AND a foam pad for polishing....now I know I need to get some different bonnets and the #83 and #80 is already on its way to compliment my NXT wax.
But my n00b question is: If my PC came with the foam pad for polishing, do I still need a backing plate, or can I just slip my bonnets right over the foam pad? If I do still need a packing plate, why and what does it look like? I have read alot about my PC from Azine and Megs, but I am still confused as to why I would need one with my foam pad.
I have done a search and haven't been able to find what I'm looking for...

All feedback is much appreciated.

B

i think the existing foam pad that comes with the porter cable is of very bad quality. I have heard the pad rips up and goes flying everywhere. I am going to order some foam pads and a backing plate, once spring comes around.

Until then, I am going to find something to test the existing foams and PC on...maybe the washer and dryer?

hhmm....good idea, I was thinking of all the cars of people that I know that I could test out on, and I have the crappiest one! Do you have the PC 7336SP as well, or the regular 7336?

Thanks for the info!

i am not sure what the 7336sp is, but I believe I have the regular 7336. I am new to the PC world as well, but I have all the products I will ever need. Just need to wait for the North East to thaw out before using it.

Well, I don't think you can harm your car if you try to use the PC on it. I was told just don't use an aggressive polish or compound and I should be fine.
