That is the result of reading through a lot of the threads on this forum. I simply couldn't go any longer without having my TL look as brilliant as other member's cars. Everything turns into a money pit, but boy I think it's all going to be worth it. I'm hoping that after doing my own car, if it turns out well I can recoup some of my costs by doing a few friend's cars for cheap.

after you do your car, you wont even be thinking about doing friends cars for cheap, it is a very time consuming process and is worth every penny if you are remotely good at it

You might have got too big a pad for the backing plate .. better choise would be a 5 1/2" pad. They will work but just not as effective.

And your missing a sealant... P21 wax has very short life.

My only option was 6.5" pads unfortunately. Trust me I went into great length about pad size with a couple guys earlier.

And damn I didn't realize that p21 wax doesn't last long...that's just great. It's not easy to pick up detailing products around here (why I had to order online) and I thought that p21 was a good wax that would've offered good protection...

You'll be fine with the P21S.

I cannot stand looking at the swirls and scratches in my paint anymore. People comment on how my car looks beautiful and this and that. All I can think is how terrible it looks to me. Thanks newperson, I'll keep you guys updated and have plenty of pics with the results in the coming weeks.

About the p21 wax, I noticed that Todd uses it a fair amount, but after re-reading his details I also noticed that he ALWAYS uses opti-seal. I do need a good sealant because I have to deal with harsh winters around here too.

I was so excited to see that eshine.ca carried raccardo clay. I remember reading about how it was just awesome and one of you in the states wished you could get it.

DG105 would fit the bill if you wanted a sealant but if you just want something that simply has great durability, Collinite 845 or 476s would be what you want.

Ya Collinite cheap long lasting, but P21S looks really good also...even though it only last for like 3 weeks.

P21S doesn't last very long, but looks really good! I prefer Opti-seal as a base with a carnauba topper. If you plan on keeping after it a lot this summer (with all of your new purchases), you could just run with frequent applications of P21S, and then this fall get a sealant and some Collinite for heading into the winter months.

Oh, and I have a small amount of Riccardo clay as well...very good stuff indeed!

Neener Neener Neener .. I have 2 full boxes of the blue and a box of the yellow ... and it sure beats the crap out of the others I have used.

This stuff is so stickie you'd have to put effort into dropping it.

What kind of topper would you recommend to go over a opti-seal? I was looking to do the danase wet glaze, but that's not carnuba i don't think

You don't "have" to have a topper over a sealant .. its done more for looks depending on the color and what your looking for.

Toppers depending on what is used can remove some of the sealant and they also get in the way if you want to put another layer of the sealant on.

Wet Glaze isn't carnuba but is a good choise .. and it can be layered.

Like Dale said, it just comes down to preference. I personally choose one or the other but with the likes of DWG, which is very versatile, you can use DWG under or over your LSP which is great.

Looks like that was pricey to put all that together.
