Black Box Wax Kit

Used the kit back in August but never posted pics of the results. It got rid of the swirls in the paint and she looked AMAZING!! after.

....after she got dirty again I gave her another wash and now theres even more swirls then before!! Next summer I'll get it done by a professional or just do it myself, I got some more learning to do when it comes to waxing, this was my first time so I decided to use this kit since it doesn't leave a white residue if I miss a spot. I didn't have a Porter Cable so I had to do it all by hand and boy was it exhausting! I saw that Meguiars had a kit that comes with a swirl remover and a clay bar so next time I'll probably use that and see what the results are. Lemme know what you guys think positive or negative comments welcomed lol and any tips or advice would deff help.

all those liquids/compounds will only COVER UP the swirls and imperfection. Once it rains, the water washes off the wax. All your swirls will re-appear. You will need professional fix to remove swirl marks ( they will use up to 4-5 different pads), especially if you never done it yourself because you could end up causing more damage to the paint ( thickness of your paint). After you get it professionally buffed and polished. Stay away from car washes and use very high quality wash mits

NBP is such a PITA to keep swirl free lol but once its clean.. its one of the best colors for a car!

Nicely done OP. But it looks like your wheel well could use a little TLC also.

clay will help remove all dirty and layers of old waxes and polishes so you can start fresh. Make sure you use a real clay bar (like the meguairs) not the liquid clay bar (like ICE) that stuff is crap.

Also if you are applying by hand how are you applying the wax... Here are some tips I've learned through working with some detailers.

1) Make sure your pad is completely clean. If it and it touches the ground, get a new one. If it picks up ONE piece of sand, you'll trash your paint.

2) Make sure you start with the top half of your car as it is normally the cleanest of dirty and debri.

3) If your are waxing by hand don't make small circles, make them longer more like an oval. Also make sure you're moving in the direction the paint would be sprayed on. which is pretty much front to back until you get the the trunk.

um i'm sure there's more other people can add too

Even a good wash mitt will cause you scratches because you must get a grit guard + two buckets.

Hit up the Wash & Wax subforum when you get a chance to buy "detailing" items. Don't buy Turtle Wax or Armor All products, all of them are very weak. If I buy store-brands, I will go only Mother's or Meguiars.

OP first off post how you wash the car .. what you use to wash it .. and what you use to dry it.

There is nothing really wrong with that Black Box wax outside of the fact it might not last too long .. but it will last a lot longer than 1 wash.

The problem usually is the washing / drying methods.

BTW clay barring won't remove old wax .. it purpose is to remove imbedded contamninants from the paint ..

You wont ever remove swirls without a compound and polish...All the rest that say they do are lying or merely feeling the holes like a glaze...

I use Meguiars Ultimate Wash & Wax soap for the body. I do the two bucket process one with soap and water and the other with clean water. I also have a micro fiber hand sponge. As far as drying I've used a microfiber drying towel and lately I've been using a squeegee wand dunno which ones better.

Both of those will swirl .. dump them .. get a sheepskin mitt and stick with the M/F towel. Preferably get a couple waffle weave m/f drying towels.

100% agreed. I always had washed my car. In the winter I go to ESSO's touchless car wash. When I wax, I never used a machine. Everything done by hand. It takes longer but it's worth it and there are no swirl marks.

I just got the Blackbox this weekend and boy what a difference. Just a matter of time the other makers make similar products.
