bird poo question

A bird crapped on my trunk a couple months ago and I wiped it off as soon as I got to it, but it seemed to have been too late. I washed it probably later that day when I got home and no amount of wax or anything would repair the damage. It looks like the paint under the crap is hazy without any indication of shine. Any idea what will restore the paint?

Here are a couple of threads that should answer your question. It's probably etched and you'll have to use a polish to clean it up.

Wiped off? You mean you took a piece of cloth or tissue and wiped it off?
