Best Leather Cleaner
Best Leather Cleaner
Hey guys I have herd some horror stories from a few friends that used amorall products and had terrible results. My car although it has 57k, I still want to try to keep it as mint as possible so I want to purchase some leather cleaner. The center console has an area of dirt and it is visible. Whats the best method to remove that? I would also like the same thing done on the seats both front and rear. You guys are the experts. I'm all ears.

I use the Woolite solution to clean and I dress the leather with the Armorall gel ( gawd forbid huh??) and have since new ... not slimy or greasy if used right. No need to slop it on ..
Also 303 works.

Dale could you provide me a link with the exact woolite you use? There are sooo many different kinds at the store here, and they all say different stuff. Do you use it 1:1 or straight up?

Recently I tried Adam's leather cleaner, and was pretty impress with the results. A little elbow grease with a brush and all the built up dirt in the leather pours truly gets removed from the seats.
However, for true "complete" spring cleaning of the leather seat you won't find a better product then Leatherique. Very time consuming but the look, smell and feel after the process makes it all worth it.

You'll find this interesting but next to my buddies window tint store is a car interior store. They swap out cloth for leather, stuff like that. I asked him one day what he thought was the best leather cleaner. He told me dish soap. I kid you not. He stated that dish soap is made to be easy on the skin while able to cut heavy grease at the same time. He said to put the saop in a tub of hot water, dip a wash cloth in it, and was the seats as if theyu were your body. Then damp dry followed with the leather conditioner of your choice. It works wonders on my taupe leather while adding the conditioner to warm/moist seats make the leather/vinyl feel like a leather jacket. I know ill read some flack for this but all I ask is for you to try it. You save a buck but getting softer seats at the same time
. BTW my conditioner of choice is Lexol. Makes the car smell as if there's new hides in there.

3-Step Leather Care
Unless a Premium Leather option was purchased the type of leather upholstery used by ~ 95% of OEM is a multi stratum covering over the leather hide; the top strata is the surface pigmentation (colour) and an abrasion resistant urethane.
Premium leatherhas a recognizable fragrance that is missing from polyurethane and plastic. Simple cleaning, hydration and protection are the steps that will prolong the life of finished leather.
1. Clean - there are two cleaning-related factors that can cause your leather to wear prematurely. The first is dirt, and the second is oil, combined they become very abrasive, as dirt / grit and subsequent friction cause the finish to wear
2. Hydrated – when leather tanner’s talk about conditioning leather they are referring to its moisture content, re-hydration is used to restore or maintain fluid balance (transpiration and evaporation of moisture); not the replenishment or replacement of the fat liquoring, oils and / or waxes.
3. Protected - is essential as it will protect the surface finish as a sacrificial layer; this way you are not actually cleaning the Leather's original surface, but cleaning from the surface of the protection. It also makes dirt easier to clean off
Urethane doesn’t require conditioning; always keep in mind that you’re dealing with the finished coating on the leather and not with the leather hide itself

i used Leatherique when i had leather seats....its hands down a better product than lexol IMO....
the downside is, it makes the leather very soft and susceptible to tears if you have a careless (now ex) girlfriend....

It's simple and effective. It's a miracle drug.
Use it on exterior trim too.
