Best Choice for removing carpet stains?

I am the second owner of a 2000 TL, with the beige interior. All in all, not in too bad a shape, but it had the "leaky mirror syndrome" that left some stains that just don't seem to want to come out. I've tried:

- Turtle Wax Oxy multipurpose cleaner
- Folex carpet cleaner
- Blue something or other, "guarenteed one-time stain remover"
- Resolve

Nothing seems to work. Before wasting any more money, should I just go to a professional, or will they even be able to help? Whatever was inside the mirror was pretty toxic.

A few pictures would help alot in determining how to help you with this. Different stains require different approaches depending on what they are composed of. I am sorry but I have no idea what "Leaky Mirror syndrome" is?

I'll try to take some tonight if I can. In the interim, any suggestions are appreciated.

The "leaky mirror syndrome" was a known issue in the 2G TLs, at least the early ones. The mirror, made by Magna-Donnelly, used some type of chemical in the rearview mirror to auto-dim at night. There were several cases of the mirror "exploding" and the caustic fluid damaging leather, dashboards, and consoles. Mine hadn't exploded, but had evidently dripped enough to damage the shift console, which I replaced. The dealer also installed the "new" version of the mirror which is Electrochromic instead of chemical.

I like "Amazing Roll off" and Aerospace 303 Carpet cleaner. If it is a petrol type product the 303 cleaner should work. These products can be found at autogeek
