Best Car washing supplies...

So I just got my 08' WDP Type S a week or so ago, and recent rain has brought forth time time to give it it's first bath. What are the best products to use to minimize swirls and what not? I need to stock up.

Typically I use the following:

regular car wash sponges
Meguiars NXT car wash
Invisible glass for windows
P21S Gel wheel cleaner
eagle one tire black sprayed on an applicator pad for shining the tires
Armorall for the dashboard

My concern is mainly the sponges I use possibly causing swirls. What does everyone else use?

Also, now that I have leather I will need to add leather care to my car care supplies, as well as something better than armorall for the dash/interior plastics.

Any advice?

Also, after driving down the beach on the highway this weekend and collecting bugs, I think I will ldeifnitely be getting a clear bra installed. Anyway, thanks in advance!

Ditch any sponge wash media, your asking fr issues! Go with a natural wool sheepskin washmit. The NXT Wash is a good lubricating soap when using traditional methods, otherwise consider Optimum NRWS.
Everything else in your repertoire looks good, and you might as well use it up.

regular car wash sponges Sheepskin per Excel
Meguiars NXT car wash
Invisible glass for windows
P21S Gel wheel cleaner I'm not a fan of wheel cleaners. put a couple of layers of NuFinish liquid on them and wash often with the tail end of the car wash soap and use a chenelle mitt
eagle one tire black sprayed on an applicator pad for shining the tires
Armorall for the dashboard Go with 303 or Meguiars #40

Get a couple of WW Microfiber drying towels if your currently using something different

303 can be found at auto parts stores

#40 at some places that carry auto painting supplies.

Sheepskin & Cenelle mitts at Wally World but the sheepskin is average quality.

WW towels have to be ordered on line .. I got a great set from Exceldetail. ( if your going to order .. get the sheepskin mitt there too and the 303 .. save a trip. )

For 303 check their website and Mes #40 you may be able to find it at your local auto parts store. They may also have chenille and sheepskin washmitts (don't know about the quality of the sheepskin). MF drying towels check out Target and K Mart. Multi purpose towels, check your warehouse stores (Sam's, Costco). For the most part, the majority order online because of availability and convenience. Check out Exceldetail.

I used sheepskin wash mits o my CLS and never had any swirls. I currently have a microfiber washmit, do you guys think it'll be safe? Or should I buy another sheepskin mit?

Chenile washmitts work nice too, but can leave fuzz behind. My new sheepskin doesn't leave fuzz but is a bit less comfortable with the separated thumb (not as easy to flip over on your hand.)

So here is my shopping list:

-Sheepskin washmit (for paint) to be used with NXT wash
-Formula 303 or Meg #40 (which would be better?) for dash/interior plastics (it is safe for the plastics as well correct?)
-WW Microfiber Drying towels
-Chenile washmit (for wheels used with tail end of NXT wash)

And then what about the leather?

I'd go with the 303 protectant as you can pretty much use it on anything, even leather.

And besides the WW's, I'd pick up some regular MF towels.

what would I need the regular MF towels for? And 303 isn't "sticky" or anything is it? Those types of protectant, AKA ARMORALL, tend to attract and pull dust in.

No. 303 isnt like Armorall at all. It leave a matte finish to the surface, dosent feel greasy and leaves a surface smooth. Its great stuff. If you want to get a more specific cleaner for leather, I always suggest Zaino leather cleaner and leather in a bottle conditioner.

I think I may order leather cleaner @ a later date, but I don't really need it now since it is new and I am going to put 303 protectant on it.

I also may jump on the Optium NRWS bandwagon soon.

Patrick recomended the turtle wax leather conditioner, Ive tried it since and I have to say it so far is great. It doesnt haave much odor to it, and the little that it does have goes away pretty quickly. I used to use the Armour All leather cleaner on my last truck and it made the leather way too slippery, no problems like that with the turtle wax.

As for the 303 protectent, when you need more you can find it easiest at a marine supply store. I wasnt able to find it at any of my local parts stores. Use it religiously on your dashboard to avoid the standard ashy dash problem on all TLs. You will need to apply it a couple times to get an even application of it. I've always been an opponent of putting things on my dash because it always attracts dust, But the 303 doesnt.

Get a spray bottle and some woolite for interior cleaning. double check but I believe you want to mix it 6:1 with water.

Have fun!

Also, what is some good quick detailer to use? I have some Mothers Gold class and some MF towels. Basically I am asking because I just washed it and it's not really THAT dirty, but driving the highway in the rain yesterday has given me to dark lines of dirt buildup on the hood...I assume from water collecting on the grooves between the bumper, hood, and grille and then rolling up onto the hood.

I figured I could just quikdetail the hood with the quick detail stuff I have and the MF towels. Yay or nay?
