Apply Z1 after winter?

I zaino-ed a couple times in november, just before the winter rolled in. During the winter, I washed a lot but never Zaino-ed again.

Now that the winter is over, do I have to re-apply the Z1, or just go strait to the Z2?

Thanks a lot!

I do a complete Clay application including Z2/5 etc. every spring and fall. I continue to apply Z-6 every wash and Z2/5 every two three washes as well during the summer months.

Re-apply Z1. Z1 is the bonding agent for Z2/Z5. It can't hurt to start off with another coat.

I do agree 100% with mffdvr to clay the car first. I'm sure your car has got a ton of contaminents on it since the last time you Z'd.

Clay then Z1 then Z2 or Z5

The dealer where I buy my zaino from recommends Z1 after each 5-6 coats of Z2....

I highly recommend the ZFX -- no more Z1 (to start or with every 10 coats/6-months).

I had around 15 coats and got lazy (no coats of Zaino for months -- just wash and/or Z6).

I got 6+ coats (some areas in the front have 9 coats) in four sessions. The "crud" just slides off the car!!!!

ZFX + Z2 (or Z5) and if you have some "junk" in the paint, and you can clay or spot clay any suspect spots (as previously mentioned).

Z2 + ZFX and you can do 3-coats in one session (you're good to go)

Would you wash the car with Dawn every time you reapply Z1?

Nooooooo.....

You only do the Dawn the first time you "move" to Zaino (with rare exceptions).

The Dawn strips the old wax, etc from the car (the first time).

When you reapply the Z1, you are just "re-lock" the layers of Z2 that you already put down. You would probably want to do the clay (as needed).

As I mentioned, if you move to the ZFX + Z2 (or Z5), you can spare yourself the Z1 reapplications.

z1 every 5 coats ? thats just looking a tad excessive.

theres no harm - just no need really.

but yes - re Z1, and if you wanna move to ZFX - let me know - Im in TO and have lots of stock . . .

Im assuming you drove the car this winter (which was pretty nice up here) and if you did - you really should consider claying.

Im going to clay my daily driver again soon (spring and fall) as well as the Camaro thats been in storage all winter inddors and un-covered while being worked all for many long months.

i just love the clay process - i find it soo relaxing . .and rewarding at the same time
