Applied Klasse AIO and SG but already feeling rough

I've had my TL for 2 months now. AFter about 3 weeks of ownership I used Klasse AIO and then applied the Klasse SG. I washed it tonight and applied some MEguire's QD to the hood, roof and trunk since these areas get the direct sunlight. A very noticeable difference in the feel from the sides of the car. The sides did not have that real smooth feel like it did after I did the AIO and SG 5 weeks ago. I don't know if it's Acura's paint but these 2 products gave me great results on a BMW I owned.

Is it okay to apply SG anytime I want or do i have to use the AIO first followed by SG. Is there something I can put over the SG now that will give it a better look and feel. Thanks

Also, posted this on the main page but when I went to clean the dash guage glass pods the tach and speed pod showed some very noticeable spots. They would not come out. The gas guage pod glass is fine. These spots are annoying to say the least and i can't seem to remove them. Any suggestions on what may have caused this. I applied 303 to the dash last weekend and didn't think I oversprayed on the glass pods but I figured I would clean them tonight even though they did not appear dirty. That is when these spots just came to life. Argh!

What did the surface feel like prior to applying the QD? Try applying the QD to the entire vehicle and then compare. I haven't heard any complaints regarding slickness from the peeps who use Klasse. I also haven't used the twins since I started using UPP and the sides feel just as smooth as the top after using a QD.

SG can be layered and I usually apply a 2nd coat after 24 hours. You can try topping it with a 'nuba like Nattys or P21S/S100 to give it deeper and wetter look.

You may wanna try a plastic polish like Plexus for those spots. I haven't had any probs with 303. If I feel there was any overspray, I would just go ahead and wipe down the entire dash with a MF towel

When did you last use detailers clay on the paint surface? AIO is a great paint cleaner but usually will not remove dirt that is 'under' (ingrained) the paint suface

I am exausted, as I just clayed, wash/dry, AIO, SG by hand, outside, uphill both ways in the snow.

The car is so slick, light can't even reflect off it. I can't find it in the parking lot.

When I detailed my car 2 months ago, I applied one layer of AIO and three layers of SG followed by Optimum Spray Wax. I wash every 2 weeks followed by Eagle One Wax As You Dry. The car still looks great and feels great. I did notice that the first layer of SG didn't give much shine. It was after the 2nd layer that you can really see the difference.

NO!

J/K, of course you can, just wash/dry first. Or do a second application of SG, then S100.

It's rough because you waited 5 weeks to wash. Stuff like tree sap and airborne contamination would have got on your paint and hardened. I found that if you wash every 2 weeks, you don't need to clay for at least 6 months because the paint stays smooth. I've reverted back to washing every 6 weeks now and my paint is rough as eventhough I had clayed, swirl remove and applied sealant during the previous wash!

No, I have washed the car at least 8 times and I have had it about 9 weekends. I applied the AIO and SG after about the 3rd or 4th week of ownership. It's been 5 weeks since I did this.

Cecilt,
If the "slick" feeling is one of your goals, you may have to re-do your efforts. CLay is crucial to getting the surface of the paint clean. Failure to clay is prbably the number one cause for your rough feeling on the car.

1. Wash

2. Clay the car

3. AIO (maye not needed since you just did it...)
4. SG
5.SG
6. Colapse, exhausted
7. S100, P21s, 845IW, NB, whatever....
8. Admire in awe

Thanks. Do I have to wait to do step 7 or can it go on right after step 6. Also, I use the orange microfiber towels that Target sells. Are these any good? I'm almost thinking these might be responsible for taking the slickness off the paint. I actually had the dealer run my car through their chamois car wash Tuesday night and the paint was still slick feeling. I picked up the Mr. Clean Pro kit today and will give it a try to eliminate the towel drying phase.

OK.... Put down the towels... Take two BIG steps backwards.... Stop.

NEVER let your car into a carwash that actually "touches" your car with ANYTHING!! This is the fastest way to get scratches from all of the dirt that was on the car before you.

You are willing to spend a little money on quality products, so how about on quality MF towels? The ones at Target, WalMart, etc... are best left for doorjambs, wheel wells, and interior work(I use the Yellow 12 pack from Costco for this). Try some towels from www.exceldetail.com, www.pakshak.com, etc (do some searches). As far as drying goes, get at least two quality MF waffle weave towels.

If you REALLY want to become an OCD guy, or just learn a TON about car care, wander over to www.autopia.org, and start reading the forums...

Finally, yes, you can top SG right away, but you will probably be better of waiting 24 hours.

Good Luck, begin obsession......
